We were shitheads as young and adults in Port Alberni, British Columbia, Canada. Once we had licenses there was nothing that could stop us from getting into trouble. Not just with the law but with each other, some people in Port Alberni are scary mother fuckers including my family. My own family offered me the most threat of all while also being the business associates making it all possible.

When I learned about this it was one of those moments where my heart goes out, but I can't say I didn't see it coming. Lorne and David are cousins as I am cousin to them. David Bird was adopted by my uncle making him cousin not by blood. David's brother Cory, my blood cousin, was my initial connection to all this. David and Cory sucked me into a lifestyle I had not known previously sometime in high school. I do not blame them but those are the facts, I was lured and threatened by family.

I bet you the only thing that saved Lorne's life is being family but how reassuring is that knowing when this, David dude, gets out he is gonna want vengeance for turning him in. That is my family in nutshell and the sole reason I had to get out of dodge! Shit this one time being chased down by Cory through the fields both of us driving little red Chevy Sprints. I don't remember the details of why, I have been intentionally trying to forget that shit, what I do remember is I was out driving him, so Cory resorted to making contact. That was that, I went for the mud just barely recovering control in time. Then knowing I always had tires with wicked nubbies for doing backroad rally I started spraying his entire car with mud. Many bumps and slams later as Cory stuck his head out the window to keep driving, total vehicular mud wrestling. The entire time with a sinister grin on his face constantly trying to push me into some position to stop my movement, Cory broke the window crank with the window stuck up. Car completely covered and not able to see he tried with the door open, but he was in a spot where the mud had high centered him. All of this came out of the blue one day while I was driving around with a couple friends starting with Cory driving up beside and yelling at me to pull over so he could kill me. By this point I had known to always take their lighthearted treats as serious cause you never know!
The only picture I can find of Cory anywhere since he is in seriously hot water and gone underground, from his fathers FB Account which has been quiet since 2018.
Yes, I made the choice to do business with these people, yet I had thought being family it was safe. Is that my failure to have been taught that family will not lead you astray? What about the fact that many aspects of the underground markets and business were normalized for us growing up? Is it our failures as young adults when finally faced with these realizations that, we struggle with accepting those we love within the family are some of the worst people on the planet behind closed doors? I think not as yes, the circumstances of a situation you willfully engage in, fault may fall upon your shoulders deemed naivety.
