The Alarm buzzed
It was already time to wake up.
His alarm felt more like a warning signal- blaring into the night sky.
It was morning though. Right?
How could that be? Really, time to wake up?
James felt as if it was only a few minutes earlier he had finally fallen asleep to rest his busy mind but from the sunshine peeking through the shades, it was morning indeed.
Busy Day Ahead
James knew it would be a busy day but he would have killed to sleep for a couple more hours. Why stick to this silly schedule, especially if I could be more efficient with my time had I slept just a bit longer?
Ringing through his tired mind-- his second alarm was now going off. He really should get out of bed- face the day.
He knew this Wednesday would bring with it another mundane day. Boring meetings, tedious tasks, and timeless typing- all the while having to listen to his boss drone on about this, that or the other thing that didn't matter but sounded nice to the client.
Work, Work, Work
As if any other day in the modern world, it was time for work. He had to hit the pavement so to speak but that speak would also be classified as an exaggeration. James had a fairly mellow desk job.
He helped businesses make money. Marketing, changing consumer behavior to raise the bottom line.
It wasn't rocket science but it had it's days. Days that would for better or worse, arrive at their choosing- not Jame's.
Sometimes, the changing pace would confuse him. Why was today slow or fast? Perhaps it was his perception and not a change in the environment... interesting thought he figured as he worked to get a grasp on his attention and begin his long workday at last.
Meeting Cancelled
He got his first win of the day though.
His morning reporting call was canceled. Wow, he thought to himself, that's truly lucky! I am way too tired for a meeting, he continued to think to himself.
Then verbally out loud he said, "I likely would have sounded like a drone- at very best. No, no, no." He said to himself or perhaps his dog, the only other living soul in the room and continued, "It would of been worse than that, I could have really gotten myself into trouble. Whew, that was a close call. Glad it got canceled without me needing an IV of coffee."
He laughed at himself and thought about how he would spend the extra time at work. He knew he would have a busy day ahead so it wasn't much of a decision. Away he went to work.

A few Thousand Words Later
James hit a wall. Moreso, it was lunchtime.
He must have typed out at least four or five thousand words. All while thinking about the strategy, best practices, and getting pinged from his coworkers.
Whew, he had made it to lunch though.
He laughed at himself and thought out loud, "That meeting would have been better than all that work."
The irony set in.
He rolled through the rest of his day simply grateful for where he was at and that... was that.
