On good days we do what we usually do, we get up and go to work, or to school or wherever we really have to go. We attend birthday parties of our loved ones, we are guests of honor for weddings, we attend PTA meetings, church meetings and so on.
Then, there are those days we do no feel like leaving the bed except someone comes to drag us out of it. It is on days like that your strength of character and resolve will show.
Days like this happen when you have had a burn out, you have put in the work tirelessly over the whole month and your body just wants to do nothing but sleep in and give every excuse possible. You know that's not an option, you have days to rest and you will do so. Not on a Wednesday in the middle of the work week.
So get up, show up.
Others days, it may be that you messed up really bad, a couple of bad decision sees you not wanting to even open your door because you wonder how exactly are you going to face the backlash outside. Your pride has been punctured. To err is human eh? Yes.
Get up, show up.
You may not even be the one who messed up, it may be someone related to you and their actions have left a stain on you, whatever side glances they get you also get directly or indirectly. Still you have to be there or even be the one to go get them out of the said mess. You are the only one they have home and abroad.
Get up, get going, show up.
Sometimes it's not the people we have a problem with, it may be the machines, your car broke down or your phone didn't charge up properly, and the sole of your shoe gave way, all adding to your reason for wanting to stay back. Valid reasons though. That is when you have to check your resolve and go do what you said you will do.
Get up, use alternatives, show up.
Most importantly, love doesn't cost a thing when it is said, but it costs so much when you want to show it through your actions. You have to spend money, time and effort, you have to back up your words "I love you" with enough tangible actions to prove that what you said is what you really meant.
A big shout out to fathers, Uncles, Brothers and father figures who keep showing up despite having to deal with the whole world, they do not complain, they put in the work, they starve so others can eat, they stand so those they love can sit. Kudos, you are doing well. If nobody has told you thank you, I am telling you;
"Thank you sir, you are appreciated"
An equally big shout out goes to Mothers, wives, sisters, aunties and every mother figure out there who wakes up by 4am and goes to bed by 12am the next day just so that food will be on the table, clothes on the backs of their loved ones, they stand by them through it all, for the pain of labor and the challenge of training a child, giving up your body, name, and every iota of yourselves to prove your love is genuine. I say to you;
"Thank you Ma, you are appreciated"
We need more people like you so the world will still know there exist good people.
Thank you all 🙇♂️
Ps - That's me and my God daughter on her 1 year birthday, I was very stressed out but I got up, dressed up and went there, when I arrived, she stopped crying, then we were able to take this photo because there wasn't a photographer around to record that amazing moment, I offered my phone. ♥
