There's a river that runs through the heart of the village, it serve as their source of livelihood, they do virtually everything by the river. So precious was the river, mostly because it was the only one they've got, other villages will come from afar to fetch from this river, and so it was a blessing to all.
Time after time, the river came flowing but the taste wasn't the same. One could not tell if it was sweet, or salty, some might even say both. A good river now has conflicting taste, salt and sweet at the same time but since it was their only option and moreover salt is not poison, they did not mind at all. With time, the salty water became bitter. Some days it will be sour, and other days it will come clean. At this point, they began to ask questions about what is going on. Of course, bitter and sweet cannot come from the same source, so there has to be an explanation for the bittersweet river.
They found savages who dump dead bodies close to the river for days till they come back to collect and bury. The villagers were upset and after a while the savages were chased out of the territory.
