"That's a no-brainer. How can you not love Dee-Dee?" Julie said excitedly as they approached the mansion. Dee-Dee Sawuat’s parties were famous for the food, the drinks, the drug, and the sex. They were also famous for the scandalous aftermaths Mr. Sawuat’s connection allowed her enough free passes to screw up with impunity. She held at least one bacchanal every month. That gave the town plenty of gossip to entertain themselves until the next.
Julie’s best friend, Annie, was not exactly a partygoer and this was the first time she was allowed to go to that part of town. Her parents were very conservative and took the historical demographic divisions very seriously.
They knew children suffer less if they hang out with their equals. Trying to be something their parents could not afford was a double challenge for an already challenging phase. Julie had gained their trust, though. She had her connections at the A stratum, but dressed and behave like an average C.
“It’s not that I don’t like her,” Annie said nervously burying her hands in her hoodie’s pockets. “Anyone would kill for an invitation or a day in her lifestyle, but she scares me; that’s all. She’s reckless.”
"You probably think that I haven't taken these threats seriously..." Mr. Sawwhat yelled at her daughter, throwing a pack of pictures at her. “You have to be thankful that I have all those fuckers on video and can buy their silence.”
“Don’t take it on me. I’m just saying,” she mumbled peevishly.
“Wouldn’t it easier if you just stopped the partying?” Mr. Sawwhat snapped. “You could buy a whole country with all the money you’d spare me.”
“Just promise me all your guys will be there to keep an eye on the guests.” She said picking up the pictures and leaving the room.
“They will. Just make sure they do ‘t have to melt any asshole again.” Mr. Sawwhat said signaling a bodyguard to follow her while answering a call.
The incessant barking brought two security guards to the Sawwhat Mansion gate. A pain-stricken couple begged for a word with Dee-Dee or anyone who could give them some information about their daughter’s whereabouts. One of the guards repeated the pre-fabricated statement uttered through the intercom every time they had demanded attention. “Ms. Sawwhat is not available. Please leave.”
“We’ll call the press if you do not open that gate.” Annie’s father threatened. The other guard produced an envelope and offered it to the enraged father. He signaled his wife to stay behind and approached the gate. He opened the enveloped, pulled out a set of images and let them fall back in and quickly hiding the envelope in his pocket.
“Are you sure you want to call the press?” they intercom questioned.
The grieving father turned around and dragged his disconsolate wife away.
