The whole world looks like a corporation of farms. Some animals get better food and shelter.
Global Barns
With every crappy Christmas that pops up around the corner, I confirm my greatest fears. We have reached the barn animals point. Every people in the history of the world that has been subjected by force, fear, or paternalistic intimidation has reached this point. Some have reacted immediately and caused revolutions (or counter revolutions), others have sunk in despair, follow the heard, and accept their utilitarian fate.
We used to criticize the docility of the Jews when they were driven in masses to their certain death. We used to wonder why it took Cubans so long to get rid of a bunch of bananeros bullies. We could not understand why the North Koreans blindly accepted all the impositions of a demented family.
It’s just a matter of time for any people to reach this absurd point. When it becomes clear that the brute force, the technology, or the legal artifices of the minority is superior and lethal, the majority gives up. People has developed a sick reliance on the very individuals responsible for their oppression and their demise. We all have invisible tags hanging somewhere. We will all become a number. Whether we run away and perish in the attempt, succeed and engrossed the diaspora, or stay and fulfilled the prophesies.
With the recent dramatic event along the deathly route of the Darién it has been proven once more that the world is not willing to attack the roots of the problems; the just react to the consequences and the most vulnerable people are unavoidably the ones who pay the price. Other peoples have done it before; the Venezuelans are just one more to the list. The vulnerable majority does not see the point in trying to escape now. They have accepted their fate, just like the cows or sheep that act obliviously to any sense of purpose. The whole world looks like a corporation of farms. Some animals get better food and shelter; they may even get petted, have full veterinarian services, and even have their birthdays celebrated. In the end, they all go to the slaughter house. They serve a purpose for sure, only not their own.
