To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known."
- Carl Sagan -
I was reminded during the week about the Carl Sagan quote regarding the tiny dot that we call our home. It was a retrospection after viewing the deep space telescope image of our universe. In it the Earth is but a dot.
Today, while enjoying my coffeee, I noticed this bush in my backyard. It tends to survive regardless of my level of neglect. It has a slightly unpleasant odour. I quite like the smell. It also seems to keep away mosquitos and other nuisances.
While sipping my coffee, watching my broadbeans explode with delight at the perfect Autumn weather, I notice a wasp exploring the branches of the bush.
It was a beautiful wasp, yellow and black, elongated and effortlessly crusing about.
I lost sight of it and was contemplating on taking a picture of it.
That's when I noticed that small stick in the middle of the image.
Upon closer inspection it was a beautiful long Praying Mantis.
My, my, what a regal looking specimen.
A beautiful reminder to find my own place. To find my own space.
To be the best version of me, regardless, as my Will is only part of this equation of life.
