To spoil, overcompensate, or cater to is the theme of this week's ZAPFIC Monday challenge that addresses the prompt "indulge". The prompt presented the opportunity to explore how an individual may feel it necessary to try to spread themselves in a manner to cover either themselves or others.
Many reasons exist to engage in such actions. Often, the backdrop stems from a parent in an attempt to make up for someone or someone missing in either their or others' lives. This is especially true when it comes to their children. I share with you a flash fiction that addresses this behavior.

"I swear, Martha, one day you'll regret how you indulge your children's every whim,"
her recently widowed aunt warned.
Ignoring her, Martha continued planning mini outings.
"They've lost a father and favorite uncle. I've triple work ahead."
