Marriage Proposal
Louis had been planning this proposal for years. He worked hard on the hospital, taking all the available overtime, just to save up enough money to take his girlfriend to Paris for a romantic getaway. He wanted to make the proposal as memorable as possible.
When the two of them arrived in Paris and left the luggage at the hotel, they began exploring the city. With each step, nervousness increased in his chest. He had been telling himself that he was ready to propose, but now that the moment was approaching, he felt his heart pounding and his stomach full of butterflies.
Finally, they arrived at the enchanting Eiffel Tower, the most romantic place on Earth. When they approached the base of the tower, he looked at the exuberant girl by his side and knew that this was the ideal moment: he took a deep breath, fell to his knees on the floor, and looked in love at her:
"My dear, I've been thinking about this for a long time, and I'm ready to ask you something," he said, pulling out the beautiful diamond ring he had bought for her. Will you marry me?"
The girlfriend was taken aback. She was completely unprepared for the proposal and looked at Louis with shock. After a few moments of dreadful silence, she finally spoke:
"Louis, I'm sorry... but I can't marry you. You know I can't. I'm not ready for... for this whole ordeal. I'm not sure if I love you enough to live my whole life with you, and only you, forever. I just wanted to..." she stopped talking, shook her head, and started to ran away, crying.
Louis was stunned. He stood there, in his knees, feeling his heart sink. Everyone around started to look weirdly at him, and he felt ashamed. Tears began to fill his eyes as he watched the love of his life running away from him, to never come back.
Suddenly, a heavy rain started to fall. Just a few moments before the sky was bright clear, but now it was full of dark grey clouds crying huge drops of water. It seemed like the Gods were in agreement with his girlfriend's decision. He stood in the rain for a few minutes, feeling completely alone and lost.
He eventually turned away from the Eiffel Tower, and slowly walked to the nearest pub. He heard that Alcohol is a great partner during the grief, and his dreams has just been murdered for good.
