Fun Fact: Reading Helps Relieve Stress.
“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” —Joseph Addison et Sir Richard Steele
Yes, remember sometime ago I made an article that when you're tired or always tired it's a great idea to exercise? Well same goes for the mind and reading.
Feeling stressed? Read. Getting lost in a book can lower levels of cortisol, and other unhealthy stress hormones, by up to 68%.
Fact has proven that reading is beyond gaining knowledge, it can also be very relaxing. Interesting right?.
Research has shown that not only does reading relieve stress but it is even a better stress reliever compared to listening to music or drinking hot coffee.
Reading allow you to be invited into a literary world that distracts you from your daily stressors like bad news, worrying thoughts e.t.c that makes your body produce stress hormones like cortisol. Reading can even relax your body by lowering your heart rate and easing the tension in your muscles.
The only magic to it, is to pick something that has a topic that interests you or just about any novel that tells a good story that'll widen your imagination as you read.
So you should definitely pick up reading as a hobby to reduce your stress levels especially with this hard times.
“Let’s be reasonable and add an eighth day to the week that is devoted exclusively to reading.”—Lena Dunham.
