Recordando...
Con la mirada perdida a través de la ventana, Ismael veía caer la lluvia y se remontaba a unos meses atrás. Su madre le tomaba la mano y ambos disfrutaban así de los días lluviosos. Ella recitaba de memoria alguna estrofa de un poema o relataba alguna breve historia...
A la mente de Ismael no llegaba ninguna de esas historia, tampoco las estrofas; pero en su imaginación correteaba bajo la lluvia, jugando con Sultán, mientras su madre lo llamaba y abrazaba al entrar. Lo mandaba a la ducha, mientras secaba a Sultán y luego se sentaban los dos al lado de la chimenea a tomar chocolate caliente, con el perro echado a sus pies.
Una tibia lágrima llegó a la mano del niño. Acarició a Sultán y se retiró de la ventana. Pidió a la abuela que se sentara con él a tomar chocolate caliente. Ella lo abrazó y ambos dejaron correr las lágrimas, antes de tomarse el chocolate que ya no estaba tan caliente.
Remembering...
Staring out the window, Ismael watched the rain fall and went back a few months. His mother held his hand and they both enjoyed the rainy days like that. She recited a stanza of a poem from memory or recounted a short story...
None of those stories came to Ismael's mind, nor did the verses; but in his imagination he was running around in the rain, playing with Sultan, while his mother called out to him and hugged him as he entered. She would send him to the shower, while she dried off Sultan, and then they would both sit by the fireplace drinking hot chocolate, with the dog lying at her feet.
A warm tear reached the boy's hand. He caressed Sultan and withdrew from the window. She asked Grandma to sit with him for hot chocolate. She hugged him and they both let the tears flow, before downing the chocolate that was no longer so hot.
