Well, I guess it's safe to say that the annual fire-smoke season has descended on us in Canada.
The phone doesn't do justice to the blood-red hue of the moon through the smoke, but it does give you an idea what it's like here right now. Some days are better than others, of course, but there are a ton of wildfires burning, and that means we're constantly getting smoked out.
It never used to be like this when I was a kid, but lately it's such a common yearly occurrence that I barely even question if we'll be smoke-filled throughout summer. Of course, we will.
Climate change is the biggest culprit, of course, and that means this will only keep happening as the folks with any power to enact change aren't doing enough. But, that's neither here nor there. I'm not here to talk about the failure of governments and the vested interests of the extremely wealthy.
Aside from the smoke, we've had a pretty good time. My cousin has been down from Igloolik visiting, so we got to hang out with him and he was able to meet the youngest two kids. They all had an absolute blast hanging out with him and I've been hearing daily how they miss him.
We also finally bought a rug for the living-room.
It really ties the room together.
