Claudia had been a professor for more than 30 years, she had started her career very early, really from her beginnings as a student, since at the beginning she was a very advanced student in her area and then she entered a new line of research in the area of physics, where she excelled, this caused the university to invite her through one of her professors to work as an assistant professor and so she started her career.
Now Claudia was in her 56th year, she was still young and very active, physically and mentally, in fact she produced texts and materials for her students and colleagues. However, the government of her country decided that she should retire, Claudia was not given a choice, she was not even asked, only from the dean's office she was notified.
When Claudia asked the reason for her retirement, the Dean's office of the university informed her that it was not their decision, but that of the Ministry of Higher Education and that the decision was due to political and structural issues.
Claudia assumed her role as a pensioner willingly, so feeling young and active, she set out, among other things, to look for a job. Once Claudia went out to look for work, she realized that in her country people over 45 years old were discriminated against in the labor market, both in the public and private sectors. The only times she was offered a job, it was with a salary almost reaching the minimum income allowed in her country. She felt rejected and even humiliated as a professional, in several places, and the problem, as the interviewers told her, was not her ability, or her gender, but her age.
Claudia attended an interview that a friend arranged for her, when she spoke with the interviewer, the conversation was very pleasant, after the interview, Claudia was told that they were interested in her services, but when they talked about the salary, what they were offering her was far below what a professional of her experience would earn. The interviewer left the paperwork for Claudia to sign in, asked for permission and left for a moment.
Claudia saw the papers, realized what was required of her in the job and said to herself, "This is really humiliating," so she decided to get up and leave. As Claudia left and said goodbye heading for the elevator, the interviewer arrived and told her that she had left the paperwork uncompleted.
Claudia looked at him and with all the respect in the world, but in a very serious manner said, "Yes, I left the paperwork incomplete, and I am sorry for taking up your time; however, the interview with you helped me a lot personally, since dignity is worth more than anything else. That is why I decided to stop working for others and start my own business" Thank you very much for your time. Claudia said as she entered the elevator.
She ended up reinventing her life, she now has a baking business, which she started at home and did so well that she now has a store and employees. She laughed at companies saying to herself, I started from scratch at 56 and now I earn more than before in my own business and I am happy and not dependent on others. Having a happy face.

Claudia había sido profesora por más de 30 años, había iniciado su carrera desde muy temprano, realmente desde sus inicios como estudiante, ya que en un principio había una estudiante muy avanzada en su área y después ingreso a nueva línea de investigación en el área de la física, donde se destacó, esto provocó que la universidad la invitara a través de uno de sus profesores a trabajar como profesor ayudante y así inició su carrera.
Ahora Claudia se encontraba en sus 56 años, era una mujer aún joven y muy activa, física y mentalmente, de hecho ella producía textos y materiales, para sus estudiantes y colegas. Sin embargo, el gobierno de su país, decidió que ella debía jubilarse, no le dieron elección a Claudia, ni siquiera le preguntaron, solamente desde el decanato le llegó la notificación.
Cuando Claudia preguntó la razón de su jubilación, en el Decanato de la universidad le informaron que no fue una decisión de ellos, sino del Ministerio de Educación Superior y que la decisión había sido por cuestiones políticas y estructurales.
Claudia asumió su papel de pensionada de buena gana, así que sintiéndose joven y activa, se propuso, entre otras cosas, salir a buscar trabajo. Una vez que Claudia, salió a buscar trabajo, se dio cuenta de que en su país las personas mayores de 45 años eran discriminadas en el mundo laboral, tanto en el público como en el privado. Las únicas veces que le ofrecieron un empleo, fue con un salario casi llegando al mínimo del ingreso permitido en su país. Ella se sintió rechazada y hasta humillada como profesional, en varios lugares, y el problema, como se lo decían los entrevistadores, no era su capacidad, o su género, sino su edad.
Claudia asistió a una entrevista que le consiguió un amigo, al hablar con el entrevistador, la conversación fue muy amena, después de la entrevista, se le dijo a Claudia que estaban interesados en sus servicios, pero cuando hablaron del sueldo, lo que le estaban ofreciendo era muy por debajo de lo que ganaría un profesional de su experiencia. El entrevistador le dejó los papeles a Claudia, para su ingreso, le solicitó permiso y se retiró por un momento.
Claudia vio los papeles, se dio cuenta de lo que le exigían en el trabajo y se dijo así misma, “Realmente esto es humillante”, por lo que decidió levantarse e irse. Cuando Claudia salió y se despidió dirigiéndose al ascensor, llegó el entrevistador y le dijo que había dejado los papeles sin completar.
Claudia lo miró y con todo el respeto del mundo, pero de manera muy sería le dijo “Si deje los papeles sin completar, y lamento haberle quitado su tiempo; sin embargo, la entrevista con usted me ayudó mucho en lo personal, ya que la dignidad vale más que cualquier otra cosa. Por eso decidí no trabajar más para los demás y hacer un emprendimiento propio” Muchas gracias por su tiempo. Dijo Claudia al ingresar al ascensor.
Ella terminó reinventando su vida, ahora tiene un negocio de repostería, que inició en su casa y le fue tan bien que ahora tiene un local y empleados. Se río de las empresas al decirse a sí misma, empecé de cero a los 56 y ahora gano más que antes en mi propio negocio y soy feliz y sin depender de otros. Teniendo cara de alegría.
