- What do you see?
I see a place filled with treasures and other shiny things and a skeleton with it's hands on a crown.
- What do you feel?
It brought memories of a story I was told as a child.
Growing up there was a time our parents tell us stories. We will all gather round together as a family under the moonlight in our compound at night especially on nights when there is no power supply.
I could recall a time my dad told a story of a man who had a lot of money but was very stingy not only to himself but also his family.
He was said to be a village chief who has very large plots of lands and he was also a money-lender who doesn't joke with late payment. He would make his anyone whose loan is due to work on his farm for everyday that they find it difficult to pay him. Only when they finish paying up are they left off the hook.
He does the account of his money all by himself because he trusts nobody not even his family. He has his own room where he keeps his money and doesn't allow anyone else into the room.
We were told that the day he died, his wives and children had to turn the room upside down looking for all the corners he had hidden his money so as to be able to pay for the funeral arrangements. Some money were found under his bed, in his wardrobe and other odd places like the ceiling, inside the wall of the room and so on.
In the end, he hoarded his treasures but he couldn't take them along with him when he is no more.
My dad ended the story with a saying that " Money is meant not to be hoarded but to use in helping people in need".
Thank you all for reading.
