Bernice was sitting in a boat on the lake and enjoying the view of the calm blue lake. The full moon was shining in the black night sky and the moonlight made everything look supernatural.
Bernice dipped her hand into the water and as she enjoyed the gentle coolness, she said to her servant.
"Back to the beach."
"Yes, Miss."
Bernice said reproachfully.
"How many times do I have to tell you? Don't call me miss."
"I'm sorry, Ms, I forgot."
"This is the last time I will overlook your wrongdoing."
"I won't do it again, Ms, I promise you."
"Okay, now get the boat to the beach quickly. I don't want to miss the cinema's movie tonight."
The servant steered the boat to the shore. There, groups of people had spread mats and were busy talking or playing. Bernice looked at them and said to herself:
"I wish mom and dad were here too."
Bernice was sitting with her servant in one of the rows of the cinema salon and watching the conflict of the movie characters with displeasure.
"Ananias, didn't you say they were going to play a romantic movie?"
"I'm sorry, Ms, I seem to have misunderstood."
"God save me from you. Go buy me a can of soda."
"Your wish is my command, Ms."
Ananias got up and left the cinema and went to the shop. Now few people were seen around there and most of the people had returned to their villas.
Ananias bought a can of soda and was going to the movie theater when someone said from behind him:
"What a good choice! Drinking a cool drink on this warm night is definitely a pleasure."
Ananias turned to see an incredibly handsome young man with long golden hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. He smiled and said:
"I actually bought this for my lady."
"Can I ask you to come with me to the beach for a drink? I promise I won't keep you too long."
Ananias was tempted and thought to himself that spending time with this handsome man was worth his lady's wrath.
"My throat is dry, why is Ananias not back yet?"
Bernice got up and left the movie theater and went to the store. When she saw that Ananias was not around, she went to the beach and started to search there.
"Ananias!"
The moon was hidden behind the clouds and Bernice could not see well. As she was walking, her foot hit something. She looked down and screamed loudly when she saw Ananias' dried wrinkled body.
