I suppose I still have allergies. I have had sinus issues since I was a teen. I had allergy tests done back then, the kind where they poke you all up and down your back, and was told I was allergic to some things. I was given allergy shots for about 4 years, but never really noticed them doing any good. I've had more recent allergy tests since then, and was told I was allergic to some things, once again. I was advised to keep the cats out of my bedroom, use allergen barrier mattress and pillow covers, and take over the counter allergy medicine, the 24-hour kind. None of that did any good, either. Even more recently, I've been told I ought to completely get rid of the cats and see if that helps. Easier said than done! They are part of the family, and nobody wants to adopt three middle-aged cats, two of which are actually rather horrid pets. Besides, what if I took them all to the humane society and kept right on coughing? So I haven't done anything more about it.
Now that everyone is fussing about the latest virus, I am reluctant to go to church because I run the risk of coughing and sneezing there. People who don't know I always cough and sneeze are likely to assume the worst and glare at me. So I don't go any more. I miss it, too. I still go to the grocery store, though, and other places where I must do errands. It's not as enclosed as church, and not as quiet as church, so people don't notice as much if somebody happens to cough. Besides, it's allergy season, folks.
