Ignorance is the most atrocious of brutalities, for it condemns the being to remain in the darkness of unconsciousness. The denial of knowledge to others is a slow-motion murder, a silent assassination of reason and spirit. He who refuses to learn commits a crime against himself; but he who refuses to teach murders the minds and souls of those around him. Knowledge is a universal right, a flame that must be unceasingly spread. To ignore it is an act of barbarism; to deny it, an unforgivable sin against humanity.
