Peter was never one for small talk. He preferred to observe, to take in his surroundings without the need for constant chatter. Some might have called him aloof, but he didn't mind. It was just the way he was.
One day, Peter found himself standing in a bustling city square, surrounded by noise and commotion. People rushed past him, talking on their phones or to each other, but Peter stood still, lost in thought.
As he stood there, something caught his eye. Across the square, a young couple was having an argument. They were yelling at each other, their faces twisted with anger. But as Peter watched, something strange happened. The couple's voices grew quieter, until they were almost whispers. And then, all at once, they fell silent.
Peter watched in awe as the couple stood there, not speaking, not moving. It was as if they had found a moment of perfect stillness in the midst of all the chaos. And as he stood there watching them, Peter realized that maybe he didn't need words to communicate after all.
He stood there for a while longer, lost in thought, before finally turning and walking away. But as he did, he felt a sense of peace wash over him. Sometimes, it seemed, standing in silence was the best way to be heard.
