"We’d like to come and visit," said the friends, but Dragon wasn’t keen.
"Sorry, but I’ve other things to do."
The forest looked rather desolate after the fire, and she wanted to travel to check on Wuk and her belongings. What she hadn’t told anyone was that she owned a collection of castles—all gathered in the same place. She loved the architecture and the gems hidden in the cellars, vaults, and treasure chambers in every castle she possessed. She had no intention of sharing them with the other dragons, who had no appreciation for such things and always tried to take credit for what she had discovered or invented.
Without waiting for a response, she spread her wings and left the gathering of dragons on the outskirts at three hours past midnight. Bewildered, the group remained behind, but it wasn’t long before the leader said:
"Let’s follow her—wherever she goes, there’s always something exciting happening. And if there are treasures to be guarded, we’re in!"
The other dragons nodded and followed their leader. They couldn’t care less what Dragon thought—after all, wasn’t it the rule that you were supposed to share everything fairly with your kind?
"There it is," Dragon said, delighted. "My other castle—isn’t it a beauty? No way I’d let the others near it. Good thing Wolf and I share the same blood. A big surprise awaits those vultures if they decide to land."
