Howdy Freewriters🤗! It's Fun Friday, but with corruption on the table, it feels more like Frustration Friday. Welcome to my 5 Minute Freewrite blog.
Corruption! Corruption! Corruption! How will we ever win when you're in power?
Every where you turn, corruption is at play. It's a sad world we're living in.
Money, a tool meant for trade, has turned the humankind greedy. So greedy that kindness is running out. And let's not even talk about abuse of power, where human rights are twisted to serve the powerful's ego.
But what hurts most isn't even the corruption at the top. It's the corruption on the ground; the one we live with every single day. And that... we have the power to fight. To call it out. To discard. Because maybe, just maybe, that's the key to minimizing corruption in general.
Just last night, I was talking to a friend of mine. He'd been referred to a new job opening. He's a professional chef.
After being reviewed, the recruiters asked him for a recommendation letter. He reached out to his previous manager, someone he'd worked with for more than three years. Someone who called him in on his off days, who relied on him constantly to cover shifts.
And what did the manager say? "Give me something small for the eyes"
Seriously, man? Someone with every chance to do a kind deed... chose corruption instead. Just because he could.
What a cruel world.
Thank you for reading🙂.
