Hola, muy buenas tardes a todos. Hoy me uno a esta hermosa iniciativa de la comunidad Hive Argentina, gracias a que mi amiga @mercmarg, me la compartió. Espero llegar a tiempo antes de que cierre, y como es parte de las reglas, debo invitar a dos amigos… quizás no tengan chance de participar, pero me gustaría compartir estas historias con ellos. Invito a @brujita18 y a @tonyes.
El tema sobre los perritos de la calle es el “pan nuestro de cada día”, para mí y para el grupo de amigos que frecuento (así solemos decir por acá acerca de esas situaciones que son constantes). A esta inquietud, sumamos a los gatitos, ya que en donde vivo, ambos están pasando por las mismas situaciones de abandono.
Respondiendo la incógnita del título; “Perros de la calle: ¿un problema o una oportunidad?”, creo que ambas cosas. El problema no son ellos, sino una gran parte de la sociedad que no ha aprendido a valorar a un ser tan maravilloso, y prefiere ser indiferente a su dolor y su capacidad de amor y lealtad… y la oportunidad, si se trata de ellos, son muy pocas las que les ofrecen de tener un hogar digno, pero muchas las que tenemos los seres humanos de tener en nuestros hogares a esos angelitos.
Me complace responder el banco de preguntas que nos sugieren, ya que todas son igualmente valiosas, y las comparto a continuación:
1.- ¿Has ayudado a algún animal en situación de calle?
Sí, a muchos, tanto perros como gatos.
2.- ¿Conoces alguna organización que se encargue del rescate de perros callejeros?
En mi ciudad hay varias, la más conocida y permanentemente activa es Misión Nevado, que trabajan conjuntamente con algunas fundaciones y con los proteccionistas independientes. Para mi satisfacción, somos muchos los que nos hemos integrado a esa labor, y me alegra ver que el número de colaboradores crece más cada día.

No es suficiente, pero sí es una de las herramientas de mayor importancia para evitar la superpoblación de animales en situación de calle y muchas enfermedades.
4.- ¿Adoptarías a un perro callejero?
He rescatado muchos, y he adoptado a varios de los que hemos rescatado. Recientemente se me murió una perrita que adopté hace varios años (Lucrecia). Ella llegó a la urbanización y nadie quiso atenderla, ni esterilizarla. Yo me encargué de ese proceso y me quedé con ella, ya estaba muy viejita cuando murió.
En la actualidad tengo un perrito (Snoopy), que rescatamos siendo un cachorro de 6 meses aproximadamente. Estaba en estado de desnutrición, lleno de parásitos internos y externos, y su cuerpito invadido por la sarna. Sus orejitas quedaron un poco mutiladas en la punta por las moscas, y tenía heridas por la misma sarna. No me daban muchas posibilidades de que se salvara pero le pusimos todo el empeño a su sanación, y ahorita tiene 6 años y es un perrito sano y hermoso.
He adoptado perros y también gatos, y en la actualidad tengo una manada de cuatro gatos y un perro, y todos conviven en total armonía.
5.- ¿Es verdad que un perro callejero adoptado resulta más dócil y agradecido que uno comprado?
Todos los perros pueden ser dóciles y agradecidos si se les brinda amor, cuidados, un trato de calidad, y un lugar especial como parte de la familia. He tenido perros rescatados de la calle, regalados, y comprados, desde un pincher hasta un pitbull, y todos han sido mascotas amorosas y leales.
6.- Estigmas con respecto a los perros callejeros.
Creo que el único estigma que puede existir hacia los perritos de la calle, es el rechazo que ha manifestado un sector de la sociedad mundial que carece de empatía y buenos sentimientos, y así de crueles como son con un animalito inocente, lo pueden ser con el resto del mundo.
Me encantó hablar sobre este tema que para mí siempre va a resultar relevante, y tengo la certeza de que si mejoramos como sociedad, el nivel de perritos en situación de calle sería mínimo. Gracias a todos por visitar mi blog, que tengan un feliz día.

The problem is not them, but a large part of society that has not learned to value such a wonderful being and prefers to be indifferent to their pain and their capacity for love and loyalty... and the opportunity, when it comes to them, is that very few are offered a decent home, but many of us humans have the opportunity to have these little angels in our homes.
I am happy to answer the questions you have suggested, as they are all equally valuable, and I share them below:
1.- Have you helped any stray animals?
Yes, many, both dogs and cats.
2.- Do you know of any organizations that rescue stray dogs?
There are several in my city, but the best known and most active is Misión Nevado, which works together with some foundations and independent animal rights activists. I am pleased to say that many of us have joined this effort, and I am happy to see that the number of collaborators is growing every day.
3.- Do you think sterilization is enough to help street dogs?
It is not enough, but it is one of the most important tools for preventing overpopulation of street animals and many diseases.
4.- Would you adopt a stray dog?
I have rescued many, and I have adopted several of those we have rescued. Recently, a dog I adopted several years ago (Lucrecia) died. She arrived at the neighborhood and no one wanted to take care of her or spay her. I took care of that process and kept her. She was very old when she died.
I currently have a dog (Snoopy) that we rescued when he was about 6 months old. He was malnourished, full of internal and external parasites, and his little body was covered in scabies. His ears were slightly mutilated at the tips by flies, and he had wounds from the scabies. They didn't give me much hope that he would survive, but we put all our effort into his recovery, and now he is 6 years old and a healthy, beautiful dog.
I have adopted dogs and cats, and currently have a pack of four cats and one dog, all living together in perfect harmony.
5.- Is it true that an adopted stray dog is more docile and grateful than one that has been purchased?
All dogs can be docile and grateful if they are given love, care, quality treatment, and a special place as part of the family. I have had dogs rescued from the street, given as gifts, and purchased, from a pinscher to a pit bull, and all have been loving and loyal pets.
6.- Stigmas regarding stray dogs.
I believe that the only stigma that may exist towards street dogs is the rejection expressed by a sector of global society that lacks empathy and good feelings, and just as cruel as they are to an innocent animal, they can be to the rest of the world.
