Hoy vengo a participar en esta preciosa iniciativa de @hiveargentina, invitada por mi mamá @carmen1659, y a pesar que la iniciativa trata específicamente sobre el rescate de perros callejeros a mi me gustaría ir un poco más allá e incluir también a los gatos, ya que fue precisamente con nuestro gato Ron con el que conocí a una organización maravillosa llamada Funahuproda que se dedica al rescate y cuidado de perros y gatos para luego darlos en adopción a familias que estén interesadas, ellos también realizan jornadas de salud y castración de animales, así que yo llevé a mi gato para que le realizaran la cirugía y fue allí donde tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer a la señora Milagros quien regenta el lugar, es la encargada de llevar los veterinarios y conseguir las donaciones que mantienen a estos preciosos animales. Ella nos contó la historia de "Bienvenido" el único perro del refugio (todos los demás son gatos) su historia me conmovió porque lo encontraron en plena calle, infestado de garrapatas, son el pelaje sucio, hambriento y los ojos llenos de lagañas, así que la señora Milagros lo tomó en sus brazos y lo llevó al refugio donde fue debidamente aseado, alimentado y revisado por un veterinario.

Today I came to participate in this wonderful initiative of @hiveargentina, invited by my mom @carmen1659, and although the initiative is specifically about the rescue of stray dogs, I would like to go a little further and also include cats, since it was precisely with our cat Ron that I met a wonderful organization called Funahuproda that is dedicated to the rescue and care of dogs and cats to then give them up for adoption to families who are interested, they also carry out health days and animal neutering, so I took my cat to have the surgery performed and it was there that we had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Milagros who runs the place, she is in charge of running the veterinarians and collecting donations that keep these precious animals. She told us the story of "Bienvenido" the only dog in the shelter (all the others are cats) his story moved me because they found him in the street, infested with ticks, with dirty fur, hungry and eyes full of eye discharge, so Mrs. Milagros took him in her arms and took him to the shelter where he was properly groomed, fed and checked by a veterinarian.
Allí, mientras esperábamos que Ron (nuestro gato) saliera de su cirugía, la señora Milagro y su compañera nos contaron historias de supervivencia de sus animales, historias conmovedoras y algunas desgarradoras que me erizaron la piel, por ejemplo, esta gatita fue victima de una maldad terrible, intentaron quemarla viva pero gracias a Dios fue rescatada, la señora Milagros nos contó que cuando la recibieron era muy arisca y obviamente tenía miedo de los seres humanos, pero con amor y paciencia fueron ganándose su confianza, su piel empezó a sanar, el pelaje empezó a crecer y ella también empezó a confiar y a amar. Las cuidadoras me comentaron algo que me llenó el corazón de ternura y me hizo recuperar la fe en la humanidad, me dijeron que como una especie de terapia, ellas les piden perdón constantemente a sus animales, perdón por la maldad del ser humano en general.
There, while we waited for Ron (our cat) to come out of surgery, Mrs. Milagro and her partner told us stories of survival about their animals, touching stories and some heartbreaking ones that made my skin crawl. For example, this kitten was the victim of a terrible evil, they tried to burn her alive but thank God she was rescued. Mrs. Milagros told us that when they received her she was very unsociable and obviously afraid of humans, but with love and patience they gained her trust, her skin began to heal, her fur began to grow and she too began to trust and love. The caretakers told me something that filled my heart with tenderness and made me regain faith in humanity. They told me that as a kind of therapy, they constantly ask their animals for forgiveness, forgiveness for the evil of human beings in general.
Por eso cuando salí de ese lugar no pude contener las lágrimas, los seres humanos pueden ser terribles, pero también hay ángeles en la tierra que se dedican a edificar en lugar de destruir, por lo tanto cuando vimos a Harry (nuestro perrito) en plena calle, siendo tan pequeñito, sin nadie en este mundo no pude evitar pensar en como fueron capaces de abandonar a un bebé indefenso, así que mi madre y yo decimos adoptarlo y llevarlo a casa, pero no ahondaré en esa historia porque mi mamá ya se encargó de contárselas a ustedes, solo puedo decirles que él ha llenado de luz nuestros días, que el amor que sentimos por él es inconmensurable y que le agradezco su presencia, ya que además me ayudó a superar la muerte de Draco, mi antiguo perrito. En casa teníamos amor para ofrecer, justo lo que necesitaba Harry, así que pudimos compenetrarnos bien 😊.
That’s why when I left that place I couldn’t hold back my tears, human beings can be terrible, but there are also angels on earth who are dedicated to building instead of destroying, so when we saw Harry (our dog) in the street, being so tiny, with no one else in this world, I couldn’t help but think about how they were able to abandon a defenseless baby, so my mother and I decided to adopt him and take him home, but I won’t go into that story because my mother already took care of telling it to you, I can only tell you that he has filled our days with light, that the love we feel for him is immeasurable and that I am grateful for his presence, since it also helped me overcome the death of Draco, my old dog. At home we had love to offer, just what Harry needed, so we were able to get along well 😊.
La esterilización es una buena opción para mantener controlada la población de perros y gatos, pero además de eso creo que deberían existir más leyes sólidas que protejan a estos animales, que hagan pagar con cárcel, no solo con multas, a quien les haga daño o intente hacerles daño (lo cuál incluye el abandono), también deberían facilitar más y más todo lo que los animales necesitan como medicina y vacunación, los gobiernos deberían tener fondos para esto y crear hospitales gratuitos para animales, yo creo que con esto bajaría el índice de abandonos.
Sterilization is a good option to keep the dog and cat population under control, but in addition to that I think there should be more solid laws to protect these animals, that make anyone who harms them or tries to harm them (which includes abandonment) pay with jail, not just fines. They should also make it easier and easier to provide animals with everything they need, such as medicine and vaccinations. Governments should have funds for this and create free hospitals for animals. I believe that this would lower the abandonment rate.
