Good morning fellow Blockchain Poets. Here is a poem I wrote when a good friend was enduring a tough time in his life. Battles with mental health can be massive, especially in these Covid stricken times. This is an attempt to normalise the stigma, and encourage people to speak.
**Walking round with the devil on your shoulder, weighing you down like a 2 tonne boulder, the sinking feeling just won't smoulder, you grab your daughter hold her. You say nothing in fear it'll mould her. You fake a smile, you're in denial from what you feel is a poisoness vial. Just gotta ride it out for a little while.
Little do you know we all have our own battle, sometimes small sometimes they rattle, but thats not all. Too proud to speak outloud, puts his head down blends into the crowd. Just wants to feel normal is that not allowed.
Here's the problem.. We got a culture that discriminates, teaches hate, it alienates. It's something we need to eradicate in order to heal societys mental state, before we lose another mate to a preventable fate.
Instead we endure sleeplessness and wrap our weaknesses in blankets of obliquenesses. AND FOR WHAT? We got this tough guy culture, society quick to judge like a vulcher. In reality it takes courage to speak, to me thats anything but fucking weak. We can't just turn the other cheek or we're destined for another repeat.
So I pray to anyone suffering, open up stop it from buffering. Theres so many that genuinely care, crack a beer give you an ear. Lets look out for one another, we can't afford to lose a brother or a poor girl lose her mother. Depression is a hell of a thing, thats why we need to make the message ring, reduce the sting of what the illness brings. Its OK to not be OK, let me hear you say, tomorows a new day thats the way.**
