The colours of the grapes, to the wine they make, and often the mess that needs to be cleaned. Someone once said, winemaking is 10% fermentation, 90% cleaning. What's not too love? Here's some of my favourite shots from this past vintage. There's no filters on any of them, they are taken with most likely sticky and wet hands, just from the camera on my phone.

Merlot splashing out, intentionally adding air to aid in fermentation, the juice is than pumped over top of the tank again. At the right time with the right weather, the sun was shining through the open door, highlighting the beautiful hues.

Very active Rose ferment. Bubbled right through the ferm lock at the top of the stainless barrel, splattering all over.
Gewurztraminer grapes with the lees meeting the drain. And my boots.

The deep purple Malbec skins and seeds, after fermentation is finished. The tank is dug out and basket pressed to extract the remaining juice. The press juice vs the free run that flows out freely before pressing.

After ferment is finished, the heavy lees settle to the bottom of the tank. The clear wine, the dark red in this photo is racked away to a fresh barrel, while the pink lees get tipped and washed down the drain. The different grades of pink

Tartaric acid build up on the inside door of a white fermentation tank. I might have added the two eyes to make a smile :)
Any favourites?
Cheers!
