Hey fellow Hivers! Christmas is right around the corner, and that only means one thing. It is the season of large format bottles of wine! What better way to show you care then bringing a Magnum size bottle of your favorite wine to a party? Well how about a double magnum? Yes indeed! 4 bottles of wine, all in one convenient over shaped glass bottle. Of course I am kidding, kind of.....

This is a bottle I come across a couple years ago. It was a gift from a customer here at work. They did not drink, and knew how much I love wine, and then gave me this very rare bottle. Small batch wine, as is all of Santa Cruz wines. Large formats are usually reserved for charity events, and judging by the lot number on the top of the bottle, I am assuming this is how it was acquired, via Silent Auction. But why would a winery want to bottle there wines in big bottles such as this besides to be the coolest person at the party? Well they age slower, since the amount of air is the same as a smaller bottle. Which is why I know this bottle of 1990 Chardonnay will be drinking for quite some time. Will it taste good? That window probably has passed, but no doubt will it be interesting! Now I just need to have an excuse to open 4 bottles of wine, all at once;) CHEERS!
