The first time I bought these sea shells from the market. When I arrived home she asked me what was the name of the sea shell? So I told her that it is called Saang. At first she looked at it and then said, Hmm; I think it is not yummy so I would not eat it. I told her, Okay! That way she would be curious. She needs to be curious about it, that way she would try to eat or taste it. Yes I am successful in making her curious because I was enjoying eating it when she told me. Mom, I wanna try to eat that shell you're eating. So I told her to get some and eat.
I have watched her pull out the shell meat from the shell and dip it in vinegar with salt and onions then eat it. Her eyes turned wide as she chewed and swallowed it. It was her first time trying to eat Saang that made her like it and then she would ask me if it was available in the market each time I come back home from the market. Once you tried eating Saang you would really love to eat it often. The reason we eat this sea shell once a week.
Saang is very yummy, and is famous here in Cebu. Mine you!. Saang needs to be cooked using the salty water or the water that is from the ocean because if it is cooked using the normal water. The meat from the shell would go inside the shell and it would be difficult to pull out and eat it. I am glad that there are vendors selling cooked Saang already. The sell ten pcs for 220 pesos only or 4.5$ each pack. Making it easy to buy and eat it. Now my daughter and I love to eat this sea shell.
