At this stage of the game, I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm an experienced travel blogger and that I know how things work here, but I think I've learned a lot in this time, even more than I expected. After four years on Hive, I already have a system that works for me when it comes to monetising my travels and I even enjoy running it. As always, at the end of a trip I like to make a monetary balance of what I invested in the trip and what I gained by sharing everything I did on this blog. Luckily, lately these balances have been positive, which inspires me to keep on travelling as I have been doing so far 😃.
A esta altura del partido, no me atrevería a decir que soy una bloguera de viajes experimentada y que sé como funcionan todas las cosas aquí, pero creo que en este tiempo logré aprender mucho, incluso más de lo que esperaba. Después de cuatro años en Hive, yo ya tengo un sistema que funciona para mí cuando se trata de monetizar mis viajes y que incluso disfruto llevándolo a cabo. Como siempre, al final de un paseo me gusta hacer un balance monetario de lo que invertí en el viaje y lo que gané compartiendo todo lo que hice en este blog. Por suerte, últimamente estos balances vienen siendo positivos, lo que me inspira a seguir paseando como lo estuve haciendo hasta ahora 😃.
If you have come across any of my recent posts, you will have seen that I have been sharing an impromptu trip I made to Bolivia a few months ago. It lasted 16 nights in total, from 16 September to 2 October 2024. I did this trip with a traveller I met in the north of Argentina just before they cancelled a work-for-housing exchange I had arranged in Jujuy. As I was suddenly left without a plan during that time and had some savings, we decided to travel together all those days. At first I was nervous because I had never travelled more than 24 hours in a foreign country, but in the end the experience was great 😃.
Si te has cruzado con alguna de mis últimas publicaciones, habrás visto que estuve compartiendo un viaje improvisado que hice a Bolivia hace unos meses. En total duró 16 noches, desde el 16 de septiembre al 2 de octubre de 2024. Este viaje lo hice con un viajero que conocí en el norte de Argentina justo antes de que me cancelaran un intercambio de trabajo por alojamiento que había organizado en Jujuy. Como repentinamente me quedé sin un plan durante ese tiempo y tenía algunos ahorros, decidimos viajar juntos todos esos días. Al principio estaba nerviosa porque nunca había viajado más de 24 horas en un país extranjero, pero al final de cuentas la experiencia fue genial 😃.
I always feel like I'm in a walking mode when I travel, but I also remember that it's part of my job here at Hive. Therefore, every new place I visit will turn into a blog post sooner or later. That's why during the walks I take care to take a few photos to share here afterwards. I don't know much about photography, but I try to make these photos as decent as possible and make them look good, while at the same time showing something interesting that I can use to create my content when the time comes 😃.
Yo siempre que viajo me siento en modo paseo, pero también me acuerdo de que eso es parte de mi trabajo aquí en Hive. Por lo tanto, cada lugar nuevo que visito se transformará en un post para mi blog tarde o temprano. Es por eso que durante los paseos me ocupo de tomar unas cuantas fotos para poder compartir acá después. No sé mucho de fotografía, pero trato de que estas fotos sean lo más decentes posibles y que se vean bien, al mismo tiempo de que muestren algo interesante que me sirva para crear mi contenido cuando llegue el momento 😃.

Over time, a sense of ‘what's bloggable’ develops, and you end up sharing not only specific places visited on the trip, but also experiences, anecdotes and lessons learned. Creative writing is something I love, and is a very important part of blogging. As well as keeping my writing tidy and free of spelling mistakes, I try not to make my posts too dense for those who take the time to read them. I'm also very careful not to post too many times about the same place, so I try to talk about something different all the time. It takes a lot of imagination and planning to keep a travel blog from becoming spammy, but it is possible 😃.
Con el tiempo, se va desarrollando un sentido de "lo que es blogueable", y no solo se terminan compartiendo lugares concretos visitados en el viaje, sino también experiencias, anécdotas y lecciones aprendidas. La escritura creativa es algo que a mí me encanta, y es una parte muy importante del blog. Además de mantener una redacción ordenada y sin faltas de ortografía, intento que mis posts no sean densos para quienes se toman el tiempo de leerlos. También cuido mucho el hecho de no subir muchas veces algo sobre el mismo lugar, por lo que todo el tiempo trato de hablar de algo diferente. Se requiere mucha imaginación y planificación para que el blog de viajes no se vuelva spam, pero es posible 😃.

Particularly with my trip to Bolivia, I finally invested about $300 to travel for those 16 days. Of that, 140 dollars came from my savings from Billetera Savings, which I had lent to my sister and she paid me back just in time before this trip, and the remaining amount I used from what I was earning from my publications during those days and a little more power down. This budget of approximately 20 dollars per day was possible because our deal with Guest M was that he would take care of all the petrol expenses and I would only have to pay for my accommodation and food. It was a method that worked well for both of us and our clear bills preserved the friendship 😅.
En particular con mi viaje a Bolivia, finalmente invertí unos 300 dólares para viajar durante esos 16 días. De ellos, 140 dólares provinieron de mis ahorros de Billetera Savings, los cuales había prestado a mi hermana y me los devolvió justo a tiempo antes de este viaje, y el monto restante lo usé de lo que fui ganando con mis publicaciones de esos días y un poco más de power down. Este presupuesto de aproximadamente 20 dólares por día fue posible gracias a que nuestro trato con Huésped M fue que el se haría cargo de todos los gastos de gasolina y yo solo tendría que pagar mi alojamiento y comida. Fue un método que funcionó bien para los dos y nuestras cuentas claras conservaron la amistad 😅.
I'm quite behind with my content, so I'm monetizing this trip since February 7th until now, sharing the places I visited, plus some thoughts and anecdotes I had during all that time. In total, I managed to create 28 posts about this trip, generating a total payout of $835 as rewards. According to our distribution system, half of that is what is left for me, equivalent to about $417.5. This number sounds like a lot more than the budget invested, however, keep in mind that during this time the price of Hive has been dropping a bit, so in absolute terms the actual reward may be a bit lower as only $208.75 was collected in the form of HBD. Still, I'm not complaining because between HBD and Hive I managed to recoup my initial budget and a bit more 😃. What do you think?
Vengo bastante atrasada con mi contenido, así que estoy monetizando este viaje desde el 7 de febrero hasta ahora, compartiendo los lugares que visité, más algunos pensamientos y anécdotas que tuve durante todo ese tiempo. En total, logré crear 28 publicaciones sobre este viaje, generando un payout total de 835 dólares como recompensas. De acuerdo a nuestro sistema de distribución, la mitad es lo que queda para mí, equivalente a unos 417,5 dólares. Este número suena a superador del presupuesto invertido, sin embargo, hay que tener en cuenta que en todo este tiempo el precio de Hive estuvo bajando un poco, por lo que en términos absolutos la recompensa real puede ser un poco menor ya que solo 208,75 dólares fueron cobrados en forma de HBD. Igualmente, no me quejo porque entre HBD y Hive logré recuperar mi presupuesto inicial y un poco más 😃. ¿Qué opinan?

In conclusion, my tips for monetizing a trip on Hive are: enjoy the trips while taking good photos for the blog, write your posts carefully when the time comes, manage your content wisely so you don't run out of something to show so quickly, and above all, don't be disappointed if you don't initially receive the expected rewards. Creating a successful blog takes time and commitment, but it's worth it. Taking this entire trip to Bolivia was something I really enjoyed and was able to achieve thanks to Hive. Once again, I continue doing what I love and collecting anecdotes along the way ❤️.
En conclusión, mis consejos para monetizar un viaje en Hive son: disfrutar los paseos al mismo tiempo que tomas buenas fotos para el blog, redactar prolijamente tus posts cuando llegue el momento, administrar inteligentemente el contenido para no quedarse sin algo para mostrar tan rápidamente y sobre todo, no decepcionarse si al principio no se reciben las recompensas esperadas. Crear un blog fructífero lleva tiempo y compromiso, pero vale la pena. Hacer todo este viaje a Bolivia fue algo que me gustó muchísimo y que pude concretar gracias a Hive. Una vez más, sigo haciendo lo que me gusta y coleccionando anécdotas en el camino ❤️.
