After these three years of traveling regularly with friends and family, the time had finally come where I had to detach myself from them a little in order to pursue my own interests. Although I really enjoy traveling with someone, the reality is that it can be a little difficult to coincide 100% with a travel companion. This is why for the next destination I wanted to reach I had to decide to go alone for the first time: it was not easy at all and I had enough mental preparation to encourage myself, but little by little I began to make it happen. And faster than imagined, the date had already arrived to put away everything necessary and start the new walk ❤️.
Después de estos tres años de viajar regularmente con amigos y familia, finalmente había llegado el momento en el que tenía que despegarme un poco de ellos para poder perseguir mis propios intereses. Si bien disfruto mucho viajar acompañada, la realidad es que puede resultar un poco difícil coincidir al 100% con un compañero de viaje. Es por esto que para el siguiente destino al que quería llegar tuve que proponerme ir sola por primera vez: no me resultó nada fácil y tuve bastante preparación mental para animarme, pero poco a poco fui concretaándolo. Y más rápido que lo imaginado, ya había llegado la fecha para guardar todo lo necesario y empezar el nuevo paseo ❤️.
At first, this trip made me quite nervous because I had three new things for me. The first was that I was going to travel alone for the first time: although I already went to a lot of places, I always had someone to make important decisions with and this time everything would depend on me. The second is that it was a province unknown to me: in order to complete my travel objective, which is to know at least one place in all the provinces of Argentina, I chose the province of San Juan, which I had never been to. And thirdly, I planned this trip without an exact return date: since I wanted to let it flow, I got a job exchange for accommodation in a hostel with no estimated end date, so I only bought a one-way ticket. All of these issues kept me up at night for several nights, but not enough to stop me from doing it 😃.
Al principio, este viaje me puso bastante nerviosa porque tenía tres cosas nuevas para mí. La primera era que iba a viajar sola por primera vez: si bien ya fui a un montón de lugares, siempre tuve a alguien con quién tomar las decisiones importantes y esta vez todo dependería de mí. La segunda es que se trataba de una provincia desconocida para mí: para poder completar mi obetivo viajero que es conocer al menos un lugar de todas las provincias de Argentina, elegí la provincia de San Juan en la cual nunca había estado. Y en tercer lugar, planeé este viaje sin fecha exacta de regreso: como quería dejar que fluyera, conseguí un intercambio de trabajo por alojamiento en un hostel sin fecha estimada de finalización, así que solo compré pasaje de ida. Todas estas cuestiones me quitaron el sueño varias noches, pero no lo suficiente como para que no me anime a hacerlo 😃.
Although I didn't know how long I would stay, I wanted it to be a long time so I had to plan well what luggage I would take. The province of San Juan is 1200 km from my house in Buenos Aires and I bought a plane ticket to get there faster (and because it was rarely cheaper than the bus). I always travel with only carry-on luggage, but this time I would need more things, so I added extra luggage just in case. To get everything in order, I first made a list of the things I would need to take with me. My list had four essential items: personal items, clothing, underwear, and miscellaneous items. It was difficult to think of everything I had to bring, so I also asked my friends for help to complete it 😃.
Si bien no sabía cuánto tiempo me quedaría, quería que sea bastante así que tuve que planear bien qué equipaje llevaría. La provincia de San Juan queda a 1200 km de mi casa en Buenos Aires y compré un ticket de avión para poder llegar más rápido (y porque raramente salía más económico que el micro). Siempre viajo solo con equipaje de mano, pero esta vez necesitaria más cosas, así que agregué equipaje adicional por las dudas. Para tener todo en orden, primero hice una lista de las cosas que tendría que llevar conmigo. Mi lista tuvo cuatro ítems fundamentales: artículos personales, ropa, ropa interior y artículos variados. Fue difícil pensar en todo lo que tenía que llevar, así que también pedí ayuda a mis amigas para completarla 😃.
The easiest part was the personal items because I already had that prepared before. Actually, I always carry the same thing and I just had to add a few extra things. I already have everything that is shampoo, creams and personal care products organized in small pots for easier transport. Each thing already has its specific case so I didn't have a big problem with this 😃.
La parte más sencilla fue la de artículos personales porque eso ya lo tengo preparado desde antes. En realidad, siempre llevo lo mismo y solo tuve que agregar algunas cosas extras. Todo lo que es shampoo, cremas y productos de cuidado personal ya lo tengo ordenado en pequeños potes para mejor traslado. Cada cosa ya tiene su estuche específico así que no tuve gran problema con esto 😃.
Within the miscellaneous items category I had to add things that I might not take on my other short trips, such as nail clippers, medicines or first aid kit items. I actually brought a lot of little things just in case, like locks, plugs, needle and thread, band-aids, hair clips, scissors, and anything small that would fit in here. I had extra luggage, so I relaxed about this 😅.
Dentro de la categoría de ítems variados tuve que agregar cosas que quizás no llevaría en mis otros viajes cortos, como cortauñas, medicinas o artículos de botiquin. En realidad traje muchas pequeñas cosas por si acaso, como candados, enchufes, hilo y aguja, curitas, hebillas de pelo, tijeras y cualquier cosa pequeña que entrara acá. Tenía equipaje extra, así que me relajé con esto 😅.
What took me the longest to think about was what clothes I would bring. For this I consulted the weather in the province of San Juan and I found that it is very cold in the morning and very hot in the afternoon. This great temperature range forced me to bring warm clothing and light clothing, so I have something for all climates. I also packed a swimsuit in case it's hot enough to go to the pool, and a scarf in case it's too cold to protect yourself from too much. Now that I'm here, I can say that I chose my outfits well because I wore almost everything, except the bikini for now 😅.
Lo que más tiempo me llevó pensar fue la ropa que traería. Para esto consulté el clima en la provincia de San Juan y me encontré con que es muy frío en la mañana y muy caluroso por la tarde. Esta gran amplitud térmica me obligó a traer ropa abrigada y ropa liviana, así que tengo para todos los climas. También guardé un traje de baño por si el calor es suficiente como para pileta, y una bufanda por si el frío es tanto como para protegerse de más. Ahora que ya estoy acá, puedo decir que elegí bien mis outfits porque usé casi todo eso, menos la bikini por ahora 😅.
Since my plan is to stay here quite a bit, I also had to bring my computer. The computer is probably the most important item I had to bring to be able to do my blog work more comfortably. I can also use it for my online classes, so it definitely had to come with me. I rarely traveled with my computer because on short trips I can get by using my cell phone, but I knew that editing for so long on the phone could drive me crazy. Currently, in the hostel I already have my small desk from where I'm now writing this, so everything went according to plan 😃.
Como mi plan es quedarme bastante acá, también tuve que traer mi computadora. La computadora es probablemente el ítem más importante que tenía que traer para poder hacer mi trabajo de blog de manera más cómoda. También puedo usarla para mis clases online, así que definitivamente tenía que venir conmigo. Pocas veces viajé con mi computadora porque en los viajes cortos puedo arreglarme usando el celular, pero sabía que editar tanto tiempo desde el teléfono podía volverme loca. Actualmente, en el hostel ya tengo mi pequeño escritorio desde donde ahora estoy escribiendo esto, así que todo salió de acuerdo al plan 😃.
Last but not least, as always on every trip, I brought my small crossbody bag with me. This bag is already a classic for me and accompanies me on all my walks. In it I put my cell phone, my wallet and small personal items. This is the most comfortable one and the one I carry with me to have everything close at hand. This bag was originally light pink, but it has had so many miles and so many rides that its color has darkened a little. However, as long as it remains functional it will come with me 😃.
Por último y no menos importante, como siempre en cada viaje, traje conmigo mi pequeño bolso cruzado. Este bolsito ya es un clásico para mí y me acompaña en todos mis paseos. En él pongo el celular, mi billetera y pequeños artículos personales. Este es el más cómodo y que llevo conmigo para tener todo cerca de la mano. Este bolsito originalmente era rosado claro, pero tiene tantos kilómetros y tantos paseos que su color se fue oscureciendo un poco. Sin embargo, mientras siga siendo funcional va a venir conmigo 😃.
Assembling this luggage took me a few hours, because in the middle I also had to sew some clothes that I had neglected and wash clothes that I wanted to wear. Finally, everything looked like this: a bag for clothes, a backpack for the PC, and my personal little bag. At the time I would have liked to have had a large backpacking backpack so I could carry everything on my back, but for the moment I made do with what I had and it was a weight I could handle. What do you think 😃?
Armar este equipaje me llevó unas cuantas horas, porque en el medio también tuve que coser algunas prendas que tenía descuidadas y poner a lavar ropa que quería llevar. Finalmente, todo se veía así: un bolso para la ropa, una mochila para la PC y mi pequeño bolsito personal. En ese momento me hubiese gustado tener una mochila grande de mochilero para poder llevar todo a la espalda, pero por el momento me arreglé bien con lo que tenía y era un peso que podía manejar. ¿Qué les parece 😃?
This trip began on September 6 of this year, and today, September 25, I can say that everything is going better than I imagined. At the moment, I still don't have an exact return date because I'm having a great time and I've already made so many friends that it makes me want to stay longer and continue walking. The province of San Juan is so beautiful that I want to have enough time to see as much as I can, so I'm glad I planned this trip this way. I'm happy for myself for having taken this important step and I hope that you too are encouraged to do what you like, without letting the fear of the new and unknown stop you. Este viaje comenzó el día 6 de septiembre de este año, y hoy, 25 de septiembre, puedo decir que todo está marchando mejor de lo que imaginé. Por el momento, sigo sin fecha exacta de regreso porque la estoy pasando muy bien y ya hice tantos amigos que me dan ganas de quedarme más tiempo y seguir paseando. La provincia de San Juan es tan hermosa que quiero tener el tiempo suficiente para recorrer todo lo que pueda, así que fue bueno haber planeado este viaje de este modo. Me alegro por mí misma por haber dado este paso tan importante y espero que ustedes también se animen a hacer lo que les guste, sin dejar que el miedo a lo nuevo y desconocido los detenga. Sin dudas, esta está siendo una de las experiencias más lindas para mí y estoy feliz por haber venido hasta acá 💖.
