Can diabetes be prevented?
Adult diabetes(DT2): This type has several risk factors (that is, factors that increase the risk of developing the disease), some of which cannot be avoided or prevented, such as ethnicity, generation, and genetics, but, there are other factors that we can isolate. We provide prevention of nearly half of the cases of diabetes . The most important of these factors is the presence of disease in the family and obesity, and therefore we must try to change the lifestyle of those people who have these factors to be healthier, and this may prevent them from progressing towards the disease. There is another segment of people who suffer from a situation called "Pre-Diabetes" and these are at greater risk of developing diabetes, and therefore changing their lifestyle is more necessary. The lifestyle we want includes:
Weight loss, doing sports activities equivalent to half an hour a day, five times a week. In addition, it is necessary to quit smoking and alcohol, to maintain blood pressure in the healthy field, to have proper nutrition that lacks fats, especially saturated ones, and to treat high fats in the blood. In people with Pre-Diabetes, some diabetes medications may be needed.Pediatric diabetes(DT1): It is a disease that belongs to a group of autoimmune diseases that medicine is currently unable to understand the causes of its occurrence, so there is no way to prevent it.
