The Arista 7280R is a pretty nice model of switch. My current personal favorite in the lineup is the 7280SR-48C6. It comes with 6 100G ports(that can run at 40G if you want) and 48 10G ports. Nice and handy.

For just under $2,000 you can buy them used and they run pretty well.

You can open them up to see the innards. Not too much in there, but the model I got only came with a single 8G stick of ram. That's no good, lets add a second one in there.

Much better. That gets us to 16G of ram in this machine. That should be able to handle at least 2 full tables of routes from BGP peers and some IX peers with no issues.
Lets close this bad boy and power it back up.
