Hello hivers and lovers of mathematics in the community,
I really hope your day was well spent?
So in this post, I will be explaining how I got my answers for the puzzle sent here
Picture from STEMGeeks Community
For this week's puzzle, I got two answers which are 7 and 11 and I will explain how although I will send my roughwork here too for further clarifications.
For the first answer, 7 ,
I calculated the sum total of all the numbers in the first row which are;
7+3+4+1= 15
The second row;
5+6+3+3= 17
The third row;
6+3+9+1=19
The whole answers are all odd numbers with an addition of 2 in the first answer (15) to give you the second answer (17) and so on, hence, the last answer should be 21.
Then for the fourth row, you calculate the number you have which are;
4+8+2=14
But you need a number of which when added to 14 will give you 21 and that number is 7 and that's my first answer, 7
For the second answer, 11,
I calculated the numbers in the first column which are;
7+5+6+4=22
For the second column;
3+6+3+8=20
For the third column;
4+3+9+2=18
You observed that the answers are all even numbers with a subtraction of 2 from the first answer (22) to get the second one (20), hence, the answer of the fourth one should be 16.
So you calculate the numbers you have already which are;
1+3+1=5
Then you Find the missing number of which when added will give you 16 and the number is 11.
That's the explanation for my second answer
My roughwork
I really hope I didn't stress you and I also hope I unlocked your maths genesπ
