El pasado fin de semana tuve la oportunidad de comenzar a formarme cómo guardaparques en el grupo de guardaparques oficial del zoológico de la ciudad de Barquisimeto. "A lo largo de mi vida he tenido muchos sueños, y estar hoy aquí es uno de ellos" fue el discurso que utilicé cuando me preguntaron mi nombre en la actividad de bienvenida que tuvimos. A las 12 del día, justo terminando la primera semana del curso nos mandaron a salir del parque sin embargo yo aproveché de hacer una visita a mi lugar favorito de allí, el serpentario.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to start training as a park ranger in the official park ranger group of the zoo of the city of Barquisimeto. " Throughout my life I have had many dreams, and being here today is one of them" was the speech I used when they asked me my name in the welcome activity we had. At 12 o'clock in the day, just finishing the first week of the course, they sent us out of the park, however I took the opportunity to visit my favorite place there, the serpentarium.
Anaconda.
Aunque el zoológico comúnmente conocido como el parque Bararida tiene muchas cosas de qué hablar el día de hoy me enfocaré en el serpentario. Mi afición por los reptiles no siempre fue así, al principio comenzó como una fobia, cuando estaba pequeño solía ver mucho el canal de televisión Animal Planet, y mientras que un niño normal solía tener miedo a los fantasmas mi único miedo era que me tragara una pitón reticular. Al crecer me di cuenta que las serpientes suelen ser inofensivas y que cuando atacan a los humanos es porque son ellos quienes la provocan. Poco a poco ese miedo se transformó en interés y terminó en un gusto que para la mayoría de personas puede ser algo peculiar.
Although the zoo commonly known as Bararida Park has many things to talk about today I will focus on the serpentarium. My fondness for reptiles was not always like this, at first it started as a phobia, when I was little I used to watch the Animal Planet television channel a lot, and while a normal child used to be afraid of ghosts my only fear was that he would swallow a reticular python. Growing up I realized that snakes are usually harmless and that when they attack humans it is because they are the ones who provoke it. Little by little that fear was transformed into interest and ended in a taste that for most people can be something peculiar.
El serpentario de este zoológico es mi favorito porque la entrada del mismo es la boca de una serpiente abierta y para ingresar al mismo es una larga subida que asemeja como si fuese su estómago. Afortunadamente logré cubrir sin problemas con mi silla motorizada, recuerdo que en el pasado cuando me llevaban con la silla normal era un poco complicado porque el suelo suele ser un poco resbaladizo. Al llegar a lo más alto de la subida te encuentras con el guardaparques quien cobra la entrada al serpentario, el valor de la misma es de 1 USD, unos 2.2 HIVE, pero a las personas en silla de ruedas no se les cobra nada así que pude ingresar sin inconvenientes.
The serpentarium of this zoo is my favorite because the entrance of it is the mouth of an open snake and to enter it is a long climb that resembles its stomach. Fortunately I managed to cover without problems with my motorized chair, I remember that in the past when they took me with the normal chair it was a little complicated because the floor is usually a little slippery. When you reach the top of the climb you find the park ranger who charges the entrance to the serpentarium, the value of it is 1 USD, about 2.2 HIVE, but people in wheelchairs are not charged anything so I could enter without problems.

Lo primero que podemos observar al ingresar al sitio son unas mesas con pieles, animales disecados, y algunos reptiles en frascos, allí se encuentra otro guardaparques encargado de explicarte un poco que es cada cosa y el tema de los venenos. Es un espacio que se suele dar un poquito de escalofríos, pero es parte del trabajo de los zoológicos, y todas estas especies que están allí son especies que han vivido su vida en el lugar.
The first thing we can see when entering the site are some tables with skins, dissected animals, and some reptiles in jars, there is another park ranger in charge of explaining to you a little that it is everything and the issue of poisons. It is a space that usually gives a little chills, but it is part of the work of the zoos, and all these species that are there are species that have lived their lives in the place.

El lugar no es muy grande para ser honesto, sin embargo en el reducido espacio logran tener múltiples especies bastante llamativas, ingresando por el lado derecho entramos al pasillo de las especies venenosas, y la primera que nos encontramos es a la famosa cascabel, una de las especies más venenosas de Venezuela y de esta región del mundo.
The place is not very big to be honest, however in the small space they manage to have multiple quite striking species, entering on the right side we enter the corridor of poisonous species, and the first we find is the famous rattlesnake, one of the most poisonous species of Venezuela and this region of the world.

Una de las especies que más me gustó ver fue la conocida como Lora, una especie verde alargada bastante bonita que además no es venenosa. Esta especie es bastante común a los bosques tropicales del país, y como pueden ver le gusta posarse en las ramas lo que la hace una especie un poco más arborícola.
One of the species that I liked to see the most was the one known as Lora, a rather beautiful elongated green species that is also not poisonous. This species is quite common to the tropical forests of the country, and as you can see it likes to perm on the branches which makes it a slightly more arboreal species.

En cuanto a especies un poco más comunes me encontré con el sapo el cual posee un veneno irritante, el caimán o cocodrilo común en este caso allí los tenían en crías, y el mato real, una especie de lagarto bastante similar a un dragón de Komodo pero más pequeño, en mi casa suelen salir bastante de estos últimos.
As for slightly more common species, I found the toad which has an irritating poison, the common alligator or crocodile in this case they had them in young, and the royal mato, a species of lizard quite similar to a Komodo dragon but smaller, in my house they usually come out a lot of the latter.

Entre las especies que no esperaba encontrarme en este lugar están el ciempiés gigante o mejor conocido como escolopendra, y el Gecko leopardo una especie de Gecko que se ha hecho bastante popular en las redes por tener una genética bastante variada y que los coleccionistas suelen disfrutar mucho.
Among the species that I did not expect to find in this place are the giant centipede or better known as escolopendra, and the leopard Gecko, a species of Gecko that has become quite popular on the networks for having a fairly varied genetics and that collectors usually enjoy a lot.

Entre las especies constrictoras más destacables que vi están la conocida vulgarmente como traga venado, la boa tornasol, la cazadora, la tigra cazadora y la anaconda. También había especies un poco más simples como la pitón bola, así que en este tipo de especies el lugar estaba bastante surtido.
Hemos llegado a la cola de la serpiente, es decir al final de esta aventura, me disfruté muchísimo visitar este sitio, pero más me disfruté escribiendo esta publicación llena de especies que me fascinan.
Among the most remarkable constrictor species I saw are the commonly known as deer swallower, the boa litmus, the hunter, the tiger hunter and the anaconda. There were also slightly simpler species such as the ball python, so in this type of species the place was quite assorted.
We have reached the tail of the snake, that is, at the end of this adventure, I really enjoyed visiting this site, but I enjoyed writing this publication full of species that fascinate me.
