Hoy les voy a contar acerca de mi experiencia caminando por el Valle de Mifafí, en el estado de Mérida/Venezuela.
Today I am going to tell you about my experience walking through the Mifafí Valley in the state of Mérida, Venezuela.
Este es un lugar muy increíble; la verdad es uno de los lugares más sorprendentes que mis ojos han podido observar. Las montañas son una cosa de otro mundo. Al caminar por allí, tú sientes que te estás yendo hacia otra dimensión.
This is an incredible place; honestly, it's one of the most amazing places I've ever seen. The mountains are out of this world. When you walk there, you feel like you're entering another dimension.
🌬Valle de Mifafí, lugar del viento: "Mifafí Valley, place of the wind:"
Este valle, forma parte del Parque El Cóndor, el cual se encuentra en la vía de la carretera Transandina. Allí, se encuentra también, la jaula del Cóndor Andino, la cual, es un ave emblemática y protegida, ya que se encuentra en peligro de extinción. Este se encuentra enjaulado, ya que forma parte de un proyecto de conservación de esta especie y, por supuesto, de exhibición.
This valley is part of El Cóndor Park, located on the Transandina Highway. There you will also find the cage of the Andean condor, an emblematic and protected bird that is in danger of extinction. It is kept in a cage as part of a conservation project for this species and, of course, for exhibition purposes.

Para llegar hasta allá me dirigí en motocicleta, ya que tenía planeado varios días para poder excursionar y ver algunos lugares emblemáticos de Mérida.
To get there, I rode my motorcycle, since I had planned to spend several days sightseeing and visiting some of Mérida's most iconic places.
Cabe destacar que también todo el camino hacia el valle en moto fue increíble porque justamente esa madrugada había una nevada, había caído nieve en los picos de Mérida y se veía una vista tan espectacular. Tienen que ver esta siguiente foto que les voy a mostrar ya llegando al lugar y fue demasiado increíble. Lástima no pudimos alcanzar tampoco a ver nieve ya que nos dijeron que temprano por la madrugada en el Valle de Mifafí también había una pequeña capa de nieve muy delgada.
It's worth noting that the entire motorcycle ride to the valley was incredible because it had snowed that morning, covering the peaks of Mérida and creating a spectacular view. You have to see the next photo I'm going to show you, taken as we arrived at the site. It was truly incredible. It's a shame we couldn't see any snow either, as we were told that early in the morning in the Mifafí Valley there was also a very thin layer of snow.
¿Cómo llegar al domo, en Mifafí? "How do I get to the dome in Mifafí?"
En mi caso, recurrí a un guía, una persona que trabaja para hacer este tipo de recorridos, ya que, pues, al ser montañas, caminos y valles, todos son muy parecidos y es recomendable ir con una persona que esté al tanto del lugar, que tenga conocimiento en primeros auxilios, ya que, al ser un lugar con bastante altitud, pueden presentarse algunos problemas de salud.
In my case, I hired a guide, someone who works doing this type of tour, because, well, since it's mountains, trails, and valleys, they're all very similar, and it's advisable to go with someone who knows the area and has first aid training, since it's a high-altitude location and health problems can arise.
☘️Mi perspectiva: "My perspective"
Desde el inicio se empieza a destacar la belleza del lugar; hay mucha naturaleza, muchas flores, hay unas montañas increíbles que rodean todo el lugar, el frío es bastante fuerte, mucha brisa. Eso percibí; pero, cabe destacar que yo soy una persona que no es muy resistente al frío, así que también ustedes pueden controlar mejor esa situación, jeje.
From the outset, the beauty of the place stands out; there is abundant nature, many flowers, and incredible mountains surrounding the entire area. It is quite cold, with a strong breeze. That is what I noticed; however, it should be noted that I am not very resistant to the cold, so you may be able to handle the situation better.
Empieza la aventura en los valles..."The adventure begins in the valleys"
Cuando llegamos al sitio de INPARQUES, donde está el cóndor, dejamos las motos, nuestro equipaje, solamente nos colocamos las mochilas con lo necesario, con nuestra agua, algo de refrigerio, por supuesto, nuestro equipo para poder hacer trekking de manera correcta, sin agotarnos tanto. Y de allí se cancela algo a lo que es INPARQUES por la entrada al lugar, obviamente.
When we arrived at the INPARQUES site, where the condor is located, we left our motorcycles and luggage behind and took only our backpacks with the essentials: water, some snacks, and, of course, our trekking equipment so we could hike properly without exhausting ourselves too much. And from there, we paid INPARQUES for admission to the site, obviously.
Empezamos a hacer el trekking..."We started trekking"
Caminamos varias horas, como he dicho anteriormente, yo no soy muy atleta y tuve que ir poco a poco, ya que no era tan exigente el camino en cuestiones de subidas y bajadas, pero el frío y la altitud afectan mucho la cuestión pulmonar y te hace sentir muy sofocado, al menos eso fue en mi caso. Pero el camino lo paga, lo vale todo.
We walked for several hours. As I mentioned earlier, I am not very athletic and had to take it slowly, as the trail was not particularly demanding in terms of ascents and descents, but the cold and altitude greatly affect your lungs and make you feel very short of breath, at least that was the case for me. But the trail is worth it, it's all worth it.
Nunca había visto rocas tan inmensas, tan gigantes, valles tan inmensos, habían riachuelos cristalinos, era muy hermoso, habían vacas, habían caballos, todo en la naturaleza, era mágico.
I had never seen such huge, gigantic rocks, such immense valleys, crystal-clear streams, it was very beautiful, there were cows, there were horses, everything in nature, it was magical.
Durante todo el camino, me dediqué a apreciar. Literalmente todo el lugar era increíble, era como si estuvieras en otra dimensión, otro mundo paralelo. A medida que, nos fuimos acercando a este lugar, se escuchaba un silencio “Ensordecedor”; solamente se escuchaba el ruido del viento a través de las montañas, como un silbido a través de ellas.
All along the way, I devoted myself to appreciating the scenery. Literally the whole place was incredible, it was like being in another dimension, another parallel world. As we got closer to this place, there was a “deafening” silence; all you could hear was the sound of the wind through the mountains, like a whistle through them.
Recuerdo que vimos el apareamiento de las águilas, lo cual es algo muy difícil de ver. Estas aves, empiezan como una lucha; entrelazan sus patas entre sí, y vuelan en círculo y en picada. Sinceramente es algo muy hermoso de ver. No pensé que fuese a presenciar todo este tipo de cosas.
I remember seeing eagles mating, which is something very difficult to see. These birds start out fighting, intertwining their legs, flying in circles and diving. Honestly, it's a beautiful sight to behold. I didn't think I would witness all these kinds of things.
Algo de misterio y superstición..."A touch of mystery and superstition"
Hay muchas supersticiones en todo este lugar. Mientras caminábamos, el guía y esta otra persona que nos acompañó, nos hablaban acerca de cómo muchas personas se han perdido en estas montañas, viajeros solitarios que se retan a ir a estos paisajes sin guías, o sin tener conocimiento.
There are many superstitions in this area. As we walked, the guide and another person who accompanied us told us about how many people have gotten lost in these mountains, lone travelers who dare to venture into these landscapes without guides or knowledge.
Algunos dicen, que tal vez hay portales a través de este domo y los valles alrededor, yo personalmente tuve que dirigirme hacia este domo y tocarlo con mis manos porque era algo que no se creía al verse. Parecía que estuvieras viendo totalmente una imagen en una pantalla. No se veía nada real.
Some say that there may be portals through this dome and the surrounding valleys. Personally, I had to go to this dome and touch it with my hands because it was something that was hard to believe when you saw it. It looked like you were looking at an image on a screen. Nothing looked real.
Así que amigos, esto es Mifafi, que significa el lugar del viento. No puedo creer que fui capaz de llegar hasta allá, a 4.320 metros sobre el nivel del mar, pero lo hice. Vale la pena ver este domo que parece de otro mundo. Este mundo literalmente es todo un tesoro por descubrir.
So, friends, this is Mifafi, which means “place of the wind.” I can't believe I was able to get there, 4,320 meters above sea level, but I did. It's worth seeing this dome that looks like something from another world. This world is literally a treasure waiting to be discovered.
