Hi everyone!
Yes, it's true I haven't posted for more than two weeks (sorry!) and I have to admit that being on a sabbatical also involves some personal breaks!
But here I am back and today I am here to describe to you the city of Palenque in the state of Chiapas!
I reached this city via a night bus for the first time and it was a special experience. During the trip the temperature is very low in the middle due to the air conditioning and even if you ask the pilot to lower it for the locals it is better to keep a low temperature in the middle. I also had a woman next to me, who together with her daughter, spoke an ancient language, a completely different dialect from Spanish and therefore I practically didn't sleep because I was very interested in hearing the sound of this language!
We are also close to beautiful Mayan ruins and numerous waterfalls that I will show you in future articles!
The city of Palenque in the local area is characterized by a very typical and cute main square called Parque Central. The Christmas decorations are still present in the photos but I took the photos in mid-January!
Walking in the city it is possible to reach the city market named after Guadalupe and present in Plaza Mercado Guadalupe.
In the center I found a cheap restaurant where you can eat tacos for only thirty Mexican pesos. I tried them all and went back every night!
The city of Palenque is divided into local and tourist areas. In my opinion, this choice does not allow tourists to integrate well with the local population. In fact most tourists stay in their area without knowing the true spirit of Palenque and this is a shame! The tourist area was recently built and is surrounded by greenery!
This is the road that leads to the local area and in the tourist area you can't drink alcohol on the street!
Shopping photos for me convey everyday life in a city in the best way.
The thing I liked most about Palenque is that the city is in close contact with nature!
