"An apple a day, keep doctors away "- we all have heard this quote and also implemented this in our life for sure. Apple is among the fruit which all people like and eat regularly. So in this blog i ll share some insight of managing and maintaining and apple orchard in HIMACHAL PRADESH at an elevation of 7000ft [//]:# (!pinmapple 31.104244 lat 77.173269 long d3scr).
It is always fun and exciting to visit your village / hometown, where you were born and bought up. These days i m in my village and have been taking care of many things in my Orchard and agricultural fields.
The most important work these days is of APPLE ORCHARD. Post harvest the work starts and many things including grafting, pruning, mulching and many more things are done.
The work for today was of SPRAYING APPLE OIL (i.e TSO) in my APPLE ORCHARD. IT is one of the biggest APPLE ORCHARD we have and it has more than 600 ROYAL DELICIOUS and SPUR APPLE TREES.
APPLE OIL, spraying of apple oil is one of the first spray and most important. Oil prevents trees from many diseases like scab, scale and whooly aphid etc. The OIL we used is of JK which is one of the best in the market and has been approved by YS PARMAR UNIVERSITY OF HORTICULTURE Mashobra SHIMLA.
The apple orchard is just near to our home, so at first we collected all the accessories required for the work. The essential required for the work are like
1-APPLE TREE OIL
2-220LTR WATER DRUM
3-HONDA MACHINE
4-PIPE 200Mtr
First we took the Drum to ORCHARD and filled it with water. After this we have to mix oil with Lukewarm water, so that it get dissolved properly.
Next is to roll the pipe till the last part of the orchard, so that whole area is covered. Now mix the entire the solution in the drum and stir it.
Turn on the engine of the machine and fix all the pipes in it, both outlet and inlet.
We started our work and it took us about 2-3 hours to complete 5 drums of oil.
After completing our spray we packed all the things and came back home.
It was a great time in the orchard. I got to know various new things regarding apple. Apple industry is becoming large day by day and now the focus has been shifted a lot to it in the upper areas of SHIMLA.
