Greetings Fellow Travel Hivers!
This is my first post to this group. I'll be introducing three places in Kobe City, Japan. I'll also share some of the pictures taken at each location. Kobe is a port city and is the seventh largest city in Japan.
Kobe Port Tower
This is the landmark of Kobe City located by the harbor. It is close to the Kobe JR station if you are travelling by train๐. From the top floor you can get a panoramic view of the sorrounding area. There is also a revolving cafe one floor below where you can sit, relax and enjoy the view of the harbor and the wider city.
Akashi Bridge
This bridge is the main entry point to the island of Awaji from Kobe City.It was built in 1998 and connects Kobe City to Awaji Island. It's central span is 1,991 metres which is said to be the longest central span of any suspension bridge in the world. The nearest station on the JR line ๐ is the Maiko Station. A native of the city told me that it takes about an hour to get from one end of the bridge to the next on foot. Of course on the average day the bridge is only open to vehicular traffic so don't try walking.
Akashi Bridge Exhibition Center
On the Kobe side of the bridge, there is an exhibition center that contains information about the construction of the Akashi Bridge and other similar bridges. The center is usually closed on Mondays and public holidays. Additionally according to the website, no tours are currently being conducted as measure to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
I'll stop here for today. Next time we'll drive across the bridge over to Awaji Island and visit our first place of interest there.
Stay tuned stay blessed.
