Shravana Adventures: Exploring Lord Shiva's Temples in Uttarakhand

The month of Shravana has started, yes it has been a few weeks since it started and it is dedicated to Lord Shiva and in such a situation all the devotees go to visit Lord Shiva. Although there are many temples in Uttarakhand which are dedicated to Lord Shiva, but there are some special temples that are very famous and people go there in large numbers during the month of Shravana. I already live in a place where there are many temples of Mahadev, Shiv Shambhu or you can say Bholenath. So this time I decided to go there with some of my friends and the name of that temple is Jageshwar Dham. It is about 35 kilometres from my house. About 5 of us went and when Shravana was just starting, we decided to go because there is less crowd at that time.

Although there is a lot of crowd in Shiv temples on Monday, but we all do not have time on Monday, so we planned to go early in the morning on Sunday because almost everyone is free on that day and it was a very good time because there is very less crowd at all places at that time and we reached everywhere on time and we visited all the temples very comfortably and enjoyed that day a lot. When we were going to Jageshwar Dham, Chitai( a temple of Golu Devta), was also on the way, so we decided to go there first. None of us had eaten anything in the morning because almost all the time we all do this when we have to visit a temple, we go hungry, I don't know why we do this, but it is a custom. So when we reached the temple of Golu Devta, there was complete silence, as you can see there were no people there, the shop was also just opening and there I also met our old school madam with whom we took a selfie, yes, I will not share that photo here, you liked it, she was going to Jageshwar Dham, she was with there family in the car and we were on the bike and scooter.

Well, the weather was not that clear, maybe that is why I could not take good photos, there were clouds and it was raining heavily in some places, we were not able to see very far, maybe that is why I did not take any photos of the way, you can say I could not take any photos because the fog was very strong and I was finding it very difficult to operate the phone. I and one of my friends had reached there much earlier than the rest of the people and when we reached there, there were shops open and the crowd was also very less, we reached there very early, maybe this was the reason because on Sundays people become a little lazy and do things very leisurely, but on the contrary we decided to go early that day because our plan was that we would visit two-three places and then it could take some time to do this, maybe that was the reason that we decided to come early in the morning and it was a good decision of ours.

Jageshwar Dham is on the bank of a river, as you can see, a beautiful river is flowing and at that time the water in the river was very less, but nowadays it has been raining for a few weeks, due to which the water level of the rivers has increased a lot and due to this, a lot of damage is also happening at some places. Before going to the temple, we bought prasad and then we entered the temple and spent some time there because the time was very limited there, so we got a lot of time to see things comfortably and sit here and there and take photos, we spent about half an hour at this temple, then we came back and there were one or two more temples near Jageshwar Dham, we visited them and after that, we left for Vridha Jageshwar, which was almost a short distance from there. Recently our Prime Minister came, so due to this the road there was very good, due to which we enjoyed going there a lot and did not have to face much trouble because it is a matter of happiness to have a good road in the mountains because this does not happen everywhere.

Everybody visits Jageshwar but Vridha Jageshwar is a little inside and that is why less people go there. Perhaps the reason was that there was less crowd there and it could be that we had gone too early and that is also why there was a lot of tension there. We spent about half an hour there and then we started returning. There was a light puja going on. Some of my companions had brought raincoats and some had not. Then while coming back, we sat in a hotel and had tea and snacks. After that, we ate potato parathas (allu ka pratha, chole, achar and chatni) because we were very hungry. It was also raining lightly. So we spent about an hour there which was our compulsion. By the time we finished eating, the rain had also reduced and then we decided to return because the weather had cleared up a little and light sunshine had started coming and yesterday I had a very good success.

Here I had a companion on my journey and I enjoyed it a lot, the other two companions had scooties and I had a bike, so perhaps this was the advantage we had, we reached the temples earlier than them, so overall I enjoyed a lot, I hope you too would have liked the place and you too will come here once.
