A short stop to get to know the ''Puente de Boyacá''

Hola amigos viajeros 🍍 Feliz día! Espero que se encuentren muy bien y que hayan tenido un excelente día. Por mi parte, me encuentro bastante bien, feliz ya que el fin de semana pude conocer algunos municipios de Colombia, para ser más exacta, algunos municipios de Bogotá, que realmente solo sabía de ellos por lo que había escuchado o visto en fotos.

El destino final era villa de Leyva, pero antes tuvimos la oportunidad de pasar por lo que viene siendo el embalse del sisga, el cual queda ubicado en el municipio de Chocontá. Este embalse terminó de ser construido en 1951 y su propósito es controlar las inundaciones de la sabana y de Bogotá, el clima en este lugar suele ser bastante frío por lo que nosotros fuimos listos con nuestras chaquetas, al ser un lugar bastante visitado por turistas nosotros quisimos hacer una pequeña parada para conocerlo y tomar algunas fotos que no es por nada, pero el paisaje que recorre este lugar es demasiado hermoso.

El embalse se ha convertido en un lugar donde realizan diferentes competencias como deportes de motor, velas y pesca deportiva, es decir, se ha convertido en un escenario de recreación, según nos comentaba una de nuestras acompañantes el agua del embalse suele variar, todo depende del clima o de las necesidades de la región y al parecer en esos momentos estaba algo baja ya que su nivel suele ser más alto.

For my part, I am feeling pretty good, happy because this weekend I was able to get to know some municipalities of Colombia, to be more exact, some municipalities of Bogota, which I really only knew about them from what I had heard or seen in pictures.

The final destination was Villa de Leyva, but before we had the opportunity to go through what is the Sisga reservoir, which is located in the municipality of Chocontá. This reservoir was built in 1951 and its purpose is to control the flooding of the savannah and Bogota, the weather in this place is usually quite cold so we were ready with our jackets, being a place quite visited by tourists we wanted to make a little stop to know it and take some pictures, not for nothing, but the scenery that runs through this place is too beautiful.

The reservoir has become a place where different competitions such as motor sports, sailing and sport fishing take place, that is to say, it has become a recreational scenario. According to one of our companions, the water in the reservoir usually varies, depending on the climate or the needs of the region, and it seems that at that time it was somewhat low since its level is usually higher.

Siguiendo nuestro camino, a unas cuantas horas llegamos a la segunda parada de nuestro recorrido y protagonista de este post, que viene siendo el Puente de Boyacá, desde lo lejos podíamos admirar las altas banderas y la estatua de simón Bolívar, aunque nosotros nos dirigimos directamente a la parte de abajo donde pudimos admirar desde cerca el puente histórico y la estatua de Francisco de Paula Santander.

Las banderas que logran observarse en el Puente de Boyacá son más que un adorno, de hecho, representan la independencia e historia de Colombia, entre estas se pueden observar la bandera de Colombia que fue bastante sencilla de identificar, también de los departamentos de Colombia y con ayuda de Fer pudimos identificar las banderas de los países libertados por Simón Bolívar, entre esos, Venezuela, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia y Panamá.

Following our way, a few hours later we arrived at the second stop of our tour and protagonist of this post, which is the ''Puente de Boyacá'', from afar we could admire the tall flags and the statue of Simon Bolivar, although we went directly to the bottom where we could admire from up close the historic bridge and the statue of Francisco de Paula Santander.

The flags that can be seen in the Boyacá Bridge are more than an ornament, in fact, they represent the independence and history of Colombia, among these you can see the flag of Colombia which was quite easy to identify, also the flags of the departments of Colombia and with the help of Fer we could identify the flags of the countries liberated by Simon Bolivar, among those, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Panama.

Se dice que el Puente de Boyacá, es un sitio histórico que pertenece a Colombia y es famoso por ser el lugar donde se libró la Batalla de Boyacá, siendo esta un enfrentamiento por la independencia de Colombia, que como pueden ver en la foto, la fecha quedó grabada siendo esta el 7 de Agosto de 1819.

Algo que me causo mucha curiosidad y de hecho me di a la tarea de buscar en internet a ver si era cierto, es que se dice que este es el puente original el cual esta construido desde 1819, en piedra, y aunque no sé que tan cierto sea, el tema es que se ha mantenido intacto desde entonces.

Las personas suelen visitar mucho este sitio, de hecho, cuando llegamos habían bastante turistas y lo interesante es que aquí se pueden hacer varias actividades, desde recorrer el campo de batalla, conocer los monumentos hasta disfrutar de la gran vista, a parte, según comentaba un guía turístico cada 7 de Agosto se realizan actos conmemorativos y desfiles en honor a la batalla de Boyacá y a los héroes de la independencia.

Junto con Fer aprovechamos de tomarnos unas selfies para el recuerdo, cruzamos el puente y observamos de cerca la estatua de Francisco de Paula Santander que para quienes no conocen fue un militar y político Colombiano, el cual participo en el proceso de la independencia luchando junto al libertador Simón Bolívar.

It is said that the Boyacá Bridge is a historical site that belongs to Colombia and is famous for being the place where the Battle of Boyacá was fought, this being a confrontation for the independence of Colombia, as you can see in the photo, the date was recorded being August 7, 1819.

Something that caused me a lot of curiosity and in fact I gave myself the task of searching on the internet to see if it was true, is that it is said that this is the original bridge which is built since 1819, in stone, and although I do not know how true it is, the point is that it has remained intact since then.

People usually visit this site a lot, in fact, when we arrived there were many tourists and the interesting thing is that here you can do several activities, from touring the battlefield, know the monuments to enjoy the great view, besides, according to a tour guide said every August 7 commemorative events and parades are held in honor of the Battle of Boyacá and the heroes of independence.

Together with Fer we took the opportunity to take some selfies for the memory, we crossed the bridge and observed closely the statue of Francisco de Paula Santander who for those who do not know was a Colombian military and politician, who participated in the process of independence fighting alongside the liberator Simon Bolivar.

En todo el lugar puedes encontrar monumentos significativos que honran a los héroes de la independencia de Colombia, de hecho, hay un pequeño museo donde puedes conocer un poco más sobre la historia de este sitio pero al ser una pequeña parada realmente solo pudimos ver y conocer cosas básicas, aunque estoy segura que este lugar tiene muchísimo más por contar.

Me encantó visitarlo y conocerlo, de hecho, me teletransporte un poco a mi época de escuela cuando tenía mis clases de historia, me agradó bastante ver en persona uno de los sitios más históricos de mi país, Colombia.

Si en algún momento tienen la oportunidad de visitarlo y recorrerlo de punta a punta, se los recomiendo, sobre todo si van de la mano con un guía turístico. Throughout the place you can find significant monuments that honor the heroes of the independence of Colombia, in fact, there is a small museum where you can learn a little more about the history of this site but being a small Parada we could really only see and know basic things, although I am sure that this place has a lot more to tell.

I loved visiting it and knowing it, in fact, I teleported a little to my school days when I had my history classes, I was very pleased to see in person one of the most historic sites of my country, Colombia.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit it and tour it from end to end, I recommend it, especially if you go hand in hand with a tour guide.
