Beautiful, mysterious, but not wild and free.
One sunny day, while having our random road trip adventure, we reached this secluded part of the town, a beach where instead of the long shorelines on both left and right sides that our eyes could linger and the supposed view of the waves kissing the shore, all we see are the great walls blocking our sight and the small calm sea in between.
This beach which I refer to as the walled sea is the last public beach of
Odlot Bogo and the only beach that stood unclaimed and unbothered by the grand ML beach property that surrounds it!
Not less than five years ago, this ML Group came to the town and bought all the lands near the sea, many locals sold their property and left the shorelines except the owner of this beach. ML then built these tall and great walls to set the boundaries of their territory.
This beach that is sandwiched by the grand ML resort is situated in the corner of Brgy. Odlot, Bogo City which connects it to Brgy. Salag, Tabogon, Cebu.
On the right side is the huge wall made of stones, while on the left, is the resort's beautiful kiosk and the coconut trees that you will see.
THE BEAUTY OF THE WALLED BEACH
I tried taking a Panoramic view of the whole beach. As you could see, the sea is trapped between the walls of the neighboring resort.
The silent and thriving Beach.
Beautiful, calm, and not wild. Though the beach area is limited to only its front view and its front sands, still, the beach is visited by some people who love to enjoy swimming and the quietness that the place gives.
The cottages and trees
The beach has these simple open cottages one could use. One would not bother with the heat of the sun as there are lush trees in the area.
The cottages are free to use, one must only pay for the entrance fee to the Beach which only cost 20Php.
When we went there, there were also a few people enjoying the beach.
Xab, my baby enjoyed strolling the whole beach. I could see in her eyes that she was curious about the walls she saw.
How peaceful it is to sit there and stare at the sea! I found the place is good for camping. Wish I could come here some other time and bring my tent with me.
The simple life of the beach.
Though the beach is imprisoned by the mighty walls, this small beach that remained public and open to all is the last hope of the fisherman in the neighborhood.
Fishermen built these tiny houses on the seashore where they store their things for fishing.
This tiny house is full of fisherman's equipment.
Without this beach, the locals would have nowhere to dock their fishing boats. Thankfully the owner didn't sell this beach!
Oops, look up, another wall of the neighboring resort.
As I strolled around, I saw some fishermen checking and testing the engine of their motorboats.
I also saw some locals, sitting on the sand manually making their fishing nets.
Watching the busy locals, the walls, the resort that surrounds the beach, and this little beach standing and striving, I came to realize, that oftentimes we neglect the real beauty of the beach and the sea. Sometimes we only look up to its beautiful landscapes and clear water that we were not able to see the life it gives to the locals: their life and their source of income. And that is one real beauty!
That, I left the beach feeling proud and happy.
