Sajjangarh, also known as the Monsoon Palace, is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Udaipur. Built in 1884 by Maharana Sajjan Singh, this palace is located on a hill in the Aravalli range, around 944 meters above sea level. It was originally designed to watch the monsoon clouds and enjoy the breathtaking views of Udaipur.
How to Reach Sajjangarh?
Reaching Sajjangarh is very easy:
- By Taxi
Sajjangarh is about 10 kilometers from Udaipur city. You can book a taxi to reach the palace, which will take around 20-30 minutes. The taxi fare usually ranges from ₹300 to ₹500.

You can also hire an auto or take your own car or bike. Riding through the winding roads of the Aravalli hills is an enjoyable experience.

If you love Bollywood and want to explore the places where your favorite songs were filmed, Sajjangarh is a must-visit!
A Change Over Time
When we visited Sajjangarh earlier, the topmost section of the palace was open for visitors. From there, the view was absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately, the path to the upper section has now been closed, and visitors can no longer access that part. While the rest of the palace still offers stunning views, the closure of the top level has left some visitors disappointed.
Tips for Visiting Sajjangarh
1 - Timings: The palace is open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Morning or evening is the best time to visit to avoid the heat.
2 - Tickets: The entry fee is affordable, usually ₹10-₹20 for Indian visitors and ₹80-₹100 for foreigners.
3 - Snacks and Water: There are small tea stalls near the palace, but carrying your own snacks and water is a good idea.
4 - Photography: Sajjangarh is a paradise for photography lovers. Don’t forget to carry your camera or smartphone!
