And here is the long-awaited Colosseum! I said a long time ago that I would publish a post about the Colosseum, one of the most popular attractions in Italy, as well as its capital - Rome. It's been quite a while since I said that. And finally catch what I promised! Let's start!
As usual, we arrived by our favorite transport - the metro. And so we saw this wonderful creation of people. It is a huge building with beautiful openings in it. By the way, the Colosseum is the most popular and one of the grandest structures of the ancient world, which is still intact in our time.
The name Colosseum comes from the word "colossus" - (from Greek Kolossos - "column"). Its construction began in 72 AD. under the emperor Vespasian, and in 80 AD. c. the amphitheater was consecrated by Emperor Titus. The amphitheater was located in the place where there was a pond that belonged to the Golden House of Nero.
I could never have thought that I would observe this incredible thing. There were many tourists around the Coliseum. Of course, because it is a very popular place. And if there are many tourists, it means that there is a lot of garbage. Yes, this place cannot boast of cleanliness, but of course the architecture.
We didn't go inside because there wasn't anything so impressive there. And the entrance was quite expensive. Unfortunately, I don't remember the price anymore😅. The Colosseum was used for all kinds of spectacles - gladiator fights, sports competitions, circus performances.
And besides the Coliseum itself, there was also the Arch of Titus. This is the Triumphal Arch built by Emperor Domitian shortly after the death of Titus in 82 AD. in commemoration of the capture of Jerusalem in 70 AD. It served as a model for many triumphal arches of the modern era.
This building is also very impressive. I am generally fascinated by all the patterns on the building. It seems like a very simple thing, but it's actually an amazing and inspiring thing. It combines the beauty and strength of Italy. In general, this place is very nice! If you come to Italy, visit the Colosseum!
Bye bye everyone!! 🏛️🏟️❤️
