Hello everyone...
This time I want to share a most memorable experience as I visit one of the largest mosques in the city of tangerang: the great mosque al-a 'zhom... This mosque not only a house of worship but also a majestic and meaningful piece of architecture... I came there with my husband when the rain just stopped. The sky was cloudy, but the atmosphere was calm and peaceful. It was like time slowed down for a moment...
If I get to the mosque grounds, my eyes are immediately fixed on a big blue-green dome that rises without a center pole... It is very symmetrical and elegant. There were five thin towers standing upright around the mosque, as if to emphasize just how important this place is to the people around it.
Even the park in front of the mosque did not go unnoticed. Clean synthetic grass, symmetrical rows of palm trees, and an eight-star motif around the tree's roots present a thick geometric touch of Islam. Everything seemed so orderly, yet so natural.
Interior: a calligraphy and geometry symphony
As I entered the mosque, it felt like stepping into a different world... Beautiful Arabic calligraphy adorns the mihrab, surrounded by carvings that blend blue, green, and gold...
This touch of color is nice to the eye and so harmonious.
Its ceiling was adorned with elaborate carvings, forming symmetrical star patterns and nets. This design reflects significantly the islamic philosophy of order and balance in life. The floor is equally attractive. The surface of the plain gray granite with a regular black dot accent-simple yet elegant. The reflection of the light from the window makes this floor look shiny, as if the mosque was always clean and glowing from the inside.
The educational Angle: from architecture to history
Sitting on one side of the inner wall, I found a gallery wall that contained the timeline of islamic history. The wooden panel contained information about the prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), an important event in Islam, down to the pilgrimage. Behind it, stained glass with typical middle eastern motifs adds to its classic, elegant appearance.Although my husband and I stopped here quite a while ago. We read each of the explanations, and occasionally we had discussions.
Closes the day with silence and Thanksgiving
Before returning home, I stood in the mosque grounds for quite a while, staring at the darkening sky. The raindrops have returned. But this atmosphere makes me feel at peace. This mosque is not just a big building. It is like a warm embrace - greeting all who come with beauty, simplicity, and reverence. The mosque of al-a 'zhom is one of the most beautiful mosques I have ever visited in Indonesia. He put the modern and traditional architectural elements together in a very elegant way. A masterpiece that not only stands to be seen, but to be felt.
