Greetings to all Hive friends! More than 100 years ago the Buenos Aires Zoo was created and inaugurated, by the year 1880 and operated as such until 2016. We are talking about more than 120 years. What until 5 years ago was a zoo, became an ecological park and here I am!
The ecopark is located in the neighborhood of Palermo and has two types of accesses, the first one through Las Heras Avenue and the second one through Del Libertador Avenue.
Saludos a todos amigos de Hive! Hace más de 100 años se creó y se inauguró el zoológico de Buenos Aires, para el año 1880 y funcionó como tal hasta el año 2016. Estamos hablando de más de 120 años. Lo que hasta hace 5 años era un zoológico, paso a ser un parque ecológico y aquí estoy!
El ecoparque está ubicado en el barrio de Palermo y tiene dos tipos de accesos siendo el primero por la avenida Las Heras y el segundo por la avenida Del Libertador.
I was walking along Santa Fé Avenue and saturated with the noise of the city for several days I had the intention of surrounding myself with nature, with my own, with what is truly real, I wanted to breathe a different air than usual and I remembered that this place was in the area. Despite having been here for so long I had not had the opportunity to come, so I decided to do it!
It is an incredible park! Lots of nature and a place where besides enjoying the view of different vegetation, it offers environmental education and conservation of the environment. They do and will do school talks and tours so that the general public can access it.
Iba caminando por la avenida Santa Fé y saturado del ruido de la ciudad desde hace ya varios días tenía la intención de rodearme de la naturaleza, de lo propio, de lo verdaderamente real, quería respirar un aire diferente al habitual y recordé que por la zona estaba éste lugar. A pesar de tener tanto tiempo acá no había tenido la oportunidad de venir, así que decidí hacerlo!
Es un parque increíble! Mucha naturaleza y un sitio dónde además de disfrutar de la vista de diferente vegetación te ofrece educación ambiental y conservación del medio ambiente. Se hacen y realizarán charlas escolares y recorridos para que el público en general pueda acceder a ello.
After a long period of time closed due to the Pandemic and social restrictions, the ecopark opens its doors with the purpose of providing learning about the care of animals and natural environments through recreational and interactive experiences.
It has 16.7 hectares and is currently open for 50% of its capacity. The park is designed to be a 100% interactive park, where you can find animal structures recreating their essence and behaviors, accompanied by related talks. As well as sculptures and part of what was historical heritage that will be carrying out recovery processes of the same.
Luego de un largo periodo de tiempo cerrado por motivos de Pandemia y de restricción social el ecoparque abre sus puertas con la finalidad de brindar aprendizaje sobre los cuidados de los animales y de los ambientes naturales por medio de experiencias recreativas e interactivas.
Tiene 16,7 hectáreas y actualmente se encuentra abierto para una capacidad de un 50%. El parque está ideado para ser un parque 100% interactivo, en él puedes encontrar estructuras de animales recreando su esencia y sus comportamientos, acompañado de charlas con relación a ello. Así como también esculturas y parte de lo que fue patrimonio histórico que se estará llevando a cabo procesos de recuperación de los mismos.
The issue of the animals' habitat has been controversial at the former zoo, as there have been many complaints about the condition of the animals in between their transfer to the nearby Japanese garden. Several deaths of monkeys, deer and fish were reported, and as a result, NGOs denounced mishandling and emergencies in these cases.
At present, the ecopark has only 1,500 animals that need rehabilitation or treatment for illness and then they are transferred to other places more suitable for their animal life.
These animals include capybaras, peacocks, Patagonian macaws, ducks, among others.
El tema del hábitat de los animales ha sido controversia en el antiguo zoológico ya que se generaron múltiples denuncias por el estado de los animales intermedio a sus traslados al cercano jardín japonés. Se reportaron diferentes muertes de monos, ciervos y peces y debido a esto las ONG's denunciaron desmanejos y urgencias por estos casos.
Actualmente el ecoparque cuenta con 1.500 animales únicamente que necesitan rehabilitación o tratamiento por enfermedad para posteriormente ser trasladados a otros lugares más adecuados para su vida animal.
Entre estos animales se pueden encontrar, carpinchos, pavo real, mara patagónica, patos, entre otros.
