Sometimes all you need is a good cup of coffee. But in a completely different vibe. We felt like changing things up from our usual café routine. A change of scenery. So I did what any curious coffee lover would do. I searched for a cozy café in Dubai that had a unique atmosphere. That’s when The Courtyard Dubai popped up on my screen. I hit through their page, and right away, the photos drew me in. It's a cultural oasis that beautifully blends creativity, community and greenery. I showed it to my husband, he didn’t hesitate, he pinned the location and we went off.
When we arrived, the front of the courtyard was bustling with cars. A good sign that we weren’t the only ones inspired by this hidden jewel. Just as we were searching where to park, a car pulled out right in front of us. Perfect timing. We entered the courtyard, it felt like we had departed from Dubai and into another country. The aura was nothing like the normal Dubai we’re used to. The Courtyard welcomed us with a unique European vibe. Masked with peace and full of charm. With a lush green haven in the heart of the city. There are plants, vines and colorful flowers that make the space feel alive and calming. We saw a large boat on display, an impressive centerpiece that added a smart touch to the space. We saw several cozy cafes with outdoor benches, tables and chair settings. Perfect spots to sit back with a drink and take in the relaxed atmosphere.
Then we discovered something even more special, Total Arts Gallery. The entrance alone invited curiosity, so, of course, we went in. We found a calm, modest space filled with modern Middle Eastern art revealing both established and arising talents from the area.
As we entered the hallway, we were pulled to the powerful display of large photographs from The Gulf Through Time. An awesome collection by Dariush Zandi. One photo that snatched our attention was a big picture of Wilfred Thesiger, the classic traveler whose expedition through the Arabian desert left a lasting legacy. Since picture taking was allowed in the hallway, we took the chance to catch a few moments and details that moved us. Once we entered the gallery itself, we observed the “no photography” and politely put our cameras away. We spent the rest of our time silently amber through the gallery, fully present and engaged, letting the stories within the images speak to us without distraction.
After the gallery, it was finally coffee time. We picked one of the cafés settled in a modest corner of the courtyard. With soft music playing, warm lighting and the smell of fresh coffee. It was everything we had looked for. But my husband, who always enjoys being closer to nature, selected the open air. So we moved to the outdoor seating surrounded by greenery and the gentle hum of the courtyard. While enjoying the calm atmosphere, we asked a friendly crew member to take a candid photo of us. It was a simple but perfect memory from our day at The Courtyard.
