Hello! Hi! Mabuhay! How are you Hivers? I hope everyone's doing fine! ✨ Have you talked to your long time friends? Have you said "Hi" to them? Because I have.
It's been 9 years since we parted our ways and continued our different milestones in life. Some pursued studying, some looked for work while others went abroad for a job. It was one lovely day when one of our high school classmate-friends contacted us all for a small gathering. I can tell based from my observation, that she has become successful. I mean, we all are. But Christine, she exceeded all of us and volunteered that the cost and expenses of our gathering be on her.
As much as we wanted to object, she insisted. Then the planning went well and picked MAAYO RESORT in San Remigio, Cebu as our Venue. We were totally astonished by the entrance fee. It cost 800 pesos ($16 estimated) per head and there were 20 of us. That was huge. We asked if could chipped in for the expenses but Christine humbly rejected and told us it was totally fine.
THE BEAUTY OF MAAYO
Maayo San Remigio is located kn the northwest part of Cebu. So, if you are driving north, better check this out!
They also have rooms that is good for couple, family and friends. Their infinity pool near provides a majestic view of the horizon. They are open for walk-ins and accept reservations.
MAAYO is a Cebuano word for GOOD OR GREAT and truly, as one of the Northwest's pride, here, you will have a great experience. ⛱️
THE DAY OF GATHERING
We gathered all together in their house and waited some of our high school friends to come. While waiting, we talked about the memories we had during our days. The sound of laughs and jokes echoed in the house. Then, it was time for us to set off.
Once we reached the resort, I, myself, was in awe of its grand entrance. I've never been to expensive resorts in my life. It was my first time. We were welcomed by the fountain.
Since we had to write all our names in their guest list, we waited in the lobby while taking turns. The ambiance of the place was so relaxing. The staffs were amiable. And their lounge area was very comforting.
Beside the reception area is a little corner of the souvenir store. There sold swimming attires, slippers, t-shirts, hand-made crafts and many more.
Then, going inside, the dinning area welcomed us. The furnitures look expensive and elegant
Since we arrived at 10 am in the morning, The buffet was not ready to be served yet.
Afterwards, shown in the right photo is the bar counter in pool. Never tried a drink tho. So if you want to order a glass of juice or a tequila, you can have it right away. On the other hand, as shown in the right photo is the way going to the guest rooms. All you can see is a vibrant ambiance of the resort.
The view of the resort is just stunning. It's good for family reunion and special events like birthdays or debuts.
And if don't feel to enjoy the blue water yet, you can sit back and relax to this corner while having snacks.
There are also benches that are in the pool and near the pool where you can either listen to music, read books or even have a nap.
In front of the pool is the sea by the bay. With it, you can smell the fresh scent that comes from the sea.
I roamed around to take some photos and gladly, my closest buddy told me he could get a photo of me. And as a camera-lover, I did not refuse. LOL.
Then it was time to take lunch. We lined up in the buffet area to get some foods. They served sumptuous foods. Look who's hungry? :D
I am not into foods actually, but this plate is a ten to me.
And just like the old days, like eating together in a classroom, we were once again brought as one in a table sharing funny moments while eating. It was one of the longest meals I had in my life. Our tummies were full, so as our hearts. After 9 years, that's quite long to catch up. We talked about our plans in my life, families, marriage, business, investments, travels. We are maturely talking about matured topics. Back then, we just had fun.
And the talking never stopped.
After our meals, we then prepared to enjoy the pool. We were like kids smashing the water, swimming and catching each other. We had a good time playing. We were so thankful to our generous friend for initiating a quick gathering.
We took another bunch of photos for keeps. I bet this wouldn't happen again. If so, it would take more long years for us to be together again. This kind of moment is special to each one of us.
Time is so short. It's almost the end of the day and we had to go back to the real world of our lives, fighting and working hard our daily grind. It's hard to accept the fact that getting together is becoming difficult most especially that all of us have our different lives now. As much as we want to enjoy more, talk more and laugh more, the time has come to an end for us to say goodbye to each other.
As I wrote this blog, I come to realize that I am blessed with amazing people when I was in high school, though U was not able to enjoy the days back then. It's kind of sad to see each one of us parting our ways again after the we enjoyed the day.
