Just a 2-hour drive from the city proper, there is an area where you can chill (can be quite literally) and be with an amazing view at the same time. This place is called Hills View Mountain Villa and is located in Marilog district, Davao City. This whole area (BuDa) is where we usually go when we want to go on a vacation cos it's chilly and nice.
There are quite a lot of resorts around but this time we only went here. I think this is one of the most popular resorts here, mainly because of the "sea of clouds" that visitors can witness.
The wind was chilly even though the sun was harsh that time. We arrived at around 1pm after we ate lunch at a restaurant nearby.
A few steps from the gate and here we see this awesome view. There were no other visitors when we arrived lol so we got the whole resort for ourselves. I think also because people would visit in the early mornings... before the sunrise. It's the only time to see the sea of clouds which I imagine would be a really stunning view.
This view deck is tiny and could probably carry only 3 persons max.
From here you'll have a clear view of the mountains without having to necessarily lean over haha. It's so pretty.
There's no phone signal here so you can really disconnect from everything. We didn't bring any books or anything though since we were just on a very short trip but just imagine if you're here with all those books and drawing materials. Must be nice to be away from the internet for a while. :D
There's nothing to do here except to look at the view and take pictures. In the mini restaurant you can order hot drinks like chocolate and coffee but they also have limited food selection which we didn't really check lol. They do cater overnight stays so I assume they have food.
On the other side of the resort is another view deck and a bit higher than the one with the restaurant. Also you can climb on top of that rock to take pictures but the risk is you fall off the cliff... which I didn't do hahaha.
What I really like about this place is that the breeze is fresh and chilly. It was really refreshing to breathe in some fresh air and not the usual city air pollution lol. Although at this height, my head felt a bit of a pressure. I wasn't sure if it was because of the long drive or the altitude or both. :P
The tiny road to this place is thankfully already been better and paved so coming here wasn't that much of a hassle although there were a lot of bumps and some cliffs which can be quite scary. A few years ago the road was really rough and only motorcycles can pass so it was a convenience to have that.
I hope they will continue to take care of the place not just for tourism purposes but also to the locals and Indigenous People that live here. :D
