It was last August 2023 when @ybanezkim26 decided to treat the kids of Amancion Elementary School to a magical experience at the Cebu Safari & Adventure Park as his birthday wish. As someone who hasn't gotten to visit the place since its opening back in 2018, I wouldn't want to miss the opportunity to tag along and celebrate @ybanezkim26's special day.
I rendezvous with @ybanezkim26, @itskareninamoi, and @intoy.bugoy and with the students and teachers at Catmondaan Public Daan Supermarket. We were waiting for about 30 minutes when the students and teachers finally arrived. I was kind of surprised to see most students in their best outfits. All prim and proper.
When we finally settled inside the 2 rented vans, we then traveled to our destination. It took us 30 minutes to reach the place. Sadly, some of the students were not used to traveling and tended to puke. But still, we all arrive safely and eager to start our journey into the wild.
I thought it would be difficult to manage a group of 18 kids. However, we had teachers and a few parents join us and watch over the students so we still got to enjoy the trip ourselves. They were all good and very attentive. They fell in line as we waited for our tickets. Then a staff shared a short discussion about the place how to maximize our tour, and which spots to prioritize and visit.
After that, we started our little escapade into the world of Safari. A ride on a tram took us to the AVIARY DOME. We saw a variety of bird species including the chipmaker's crowned pigeon, Philippine Hanging Parrot, Rainbow Lorikeet, Black-capped Lory, Chattering Lory, Coleto Mynah, Eclectus Parrot, and a lot more but I also saw a few of them up close!
Our next stop was the WHITE LION SAFARI. Good thing there was no line waiting so were able to take our turn right away. Since we were a big group, we decided to have 2 groups. I was with most of the kids during our turn. A little drive inside a cage mini truck then took us to 3 sleeping white lions with their butts facing us. Seriously! I thought that was a shame. The staff shared some facts about the lions to which the kids were eager to listen.
After which, we then got to meet the DROMEDARY CAMELS! One had a white coat and the other a slightly brown coat. The white one was very curious and friendly and didn't fail to interact with us. Probably asking for food. We got to have an up close session where the white one was munching on my kneepad. The camels had a gentle nature to them so petting them was ok.
We saw a few ostriches and an Australian Pelican while heading to our next stop.
The BIRDS OF THE WORLD was one of the highlights of our tour. We got to see a lot of birds compared to the Aviary Dome. Among the bird species that we found were the Dusky Lory, Eclectus Parrot, Scarlet Ibis, Philippine Hawk Eagle, and Brahminy Kite. It started with a few minutes of waking along a path where some of these birds were just within reach by the side. Then we arrived at the huge dome inside filled with rainbow-colored birds.
A love these scarlet ibis... They have next above the tree which wasn't visible at first glance...
It was such a delight for these cute little birds to freely land on our heads, hands, and shoulders. They are so used to the presence of humans.
In just a short time, we were able to encounter numerous animals from the Philippines and those not native to our country especially the camels and the white african lions! If the young at heart like us already enjoyed this trip, what more the kids!
End of Part 1. Much more to share about this amazing experience. Stay tuned!
