Hello Hivers, welcome to my #LakwatsaniIntoy Diary 036. Our exploration and discoveries in the beautiful Island of Bantayan are not yet over. Bantayan Island is indeed blessed with pristine beaches but for today's blog, we will visit a cave, one of the known tourist destinations on the Island of Bantayan, the Ogtong Cave.
Ogtong Cave
This cave is exactly located in Barangay Pooc Sta. Fe Bantayan Cebu. It is inside of a resort Ogtong Cave Resort. The name is after this cave which is the center of their attraction. The resort also has swimming pool , beach area and they also offer hotels and accommodation. You can visit here to know more the details.
A lot of tourists and travelers are visiting this place. They also put it on their bucket list of places to wander and So am I. Im excited to discover this cave, It is seldom for me to visit caves, that's why I can't wait to see it when I know this cave is part of the Travel Tour Package we got for our 2 days and 1-night stay in Bantayan. So I searched about the cave and the photos below are what I got, It makes me more excited when I saw this.
To know more about our 2 days and One night stay in Bantayan click here to direct on my blog π.
How to Reach Ogtong Cave?
Let's say you are already on the Island and your hotel/Inn is in Sta. Fe. You only need 15 minutes of travel through the motorcycle to reach the point of Ogtong Cave. The Fare of the motorcycle if it is not part of the tour package is 50 Pesos only. You can use a private car but its not advisable since the road is narrow.
It is the second day of the tour June 13, 2021, when we visited this cave. Supposedly this will happen on our first day as part of our day 1 itinerary. But since we don't reach the time cut-off that day we decided to visit it the next day.
After our Island hopping itinerary on day 2, we go directly to the cave and finally see it. Upon entering the resort we need first to register our name and by then the 200 pesos entrance fee will be collected. But since the entrance fee is part of the tour, Our Travel Coordinator will take care of it π.
The wide garden and this big bike that I want to ride welcomed us after the registration, I think it's fun to explore the resort with this but they didn't allow us to ride on it π . We walk inside the resort and look up where is the cave located. We didn't notice it is beside us already until the person we asked confirmed it. Did you know we have the same line when we saw it? .....Is that the cave? (a question with a tune of disappointment )
Why Unexpected?
My friends and I didn't expect how small it is, I think the cave has an opening of 10 meters And the length is around 20 meters estimated. And they limit the number of people entering the cave at the same time cause it is really small. So, we need to wait up first for our turn.
I thought the moment I had in this cave is all disappointment but when I approach it closely and start entering the cave, I also start appreciating how beautiful it is. The freshwater inside the cave is crystal clear which makes it Enchanted and the water is cold which we don't also expect π . Inside the cave, we feel relaxed I don't know why. But I feel at ease and light while we soaked up in the cold crystal clear water. We attempt to explore the inside of the cave but it has less light ventilation and is too dark at the end of the cave which makes us stop. But I saw some stalactites on the ceiling of the cave and Im happy to see them π.
Though the size of the cave give us bad remarks at first, the beauty and feelings upon exploration inside the cave tattoed us with a smile at the end π
