When I approached the gate of the famous castle "Kastel Ecka" last week, I was very curious and excited because I heard many times that this castle is one of the most beautiful castles in my country. It is located in the village of the same name, Ecka, in Banat, Serbia, 60 km from Belgrade.
It was a sunny day and we decided to spend it outside Belgrade. Since I am a lover of castles and old houses, this time we visited another castle that is on my list of castles I have never been to.
Ecka Castle was built at the beginning of the 19th century. The famous pianist Franz Liszt played at the opening ceremony.
The closer you get to the castle, the more you admire its beauty.
Although it was renovated and turned into a hotel, it preserved the aristocratic spirit of the past and its English style even though it is quite far from England.
Since it was built, it has been ruled by four count families. The festive events that were held in this castle were prestigious ceremonies that could only be attended by aristocratic and wealthy people. The castle was famous throughout Europe and we felt somehow honored when we went inside.
The interior is stylishly decorated.
We passed through the hallway where the hotel rooms are and noticed some interesting decorations.
At that time, members of noble families were engaged in hunting, so deer horns were used as decoration.
Through the window we saw a spacious yard and immediately headed there. We first saw the well when we got outside. They call it the well of wishes, so you can throw a coin in and who knows, maybe your wish will come true. 😊
Many historical and family events took place here, even murders and duels, but also beautiful love stories, festive moments, as well as the visits of many important historical figures.
A walk through the spacious greenery of the castle was very pleasant.
The peace you feel there with the pleasant chirping of birds is so relaxing. Several statues have been preserved, as well as a monument that was built as a warning for family members to be united.
My son had a great time at the children's playground. In addition to its historical value, this place is also very good for a family vacation.
The oldest part of the castle is the old stable, which has not been renovated and is in a very bad condition.
As I approached the stables, I saw ponies in the distance.
I called my son to come and see them. He was delighted. He picked some grass and gave it to them to eat. He is very happy when he feeds the animals. 😊
Next to the castle there is another historically important building, the Roman Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist, which was built by one of the members of the noble family that lived in the castle.
The church is very big. I was curious about what it was like inside, but it was closed.
Soon it started to rain so we headed home. It was nice to feel noble at least for a day. 😊
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
