I have always been fascinated by the towers and fortresses in the old parts of the cities. While I was walking around Poreč these days, I noticed two magnificent towers - Pentagonal tower and Round tower.
The Pentagonal Tower is the first building that caught my attention during my walk in Poreč.
I tried to take a photo of it without people around, but it was very difficult because of the big crowd. This tower was built in 1447 on the foundations of a medieval tower and the medieval tower was built on the foundations of an ancient tower. Considering that, this tower has significant historical value.
My son is a little explorer and he invited me to enter the tower and explore its interior. 🙂 He was very excited and curious.
When we entered, the impression was amazing because of the steep stairs we climbed.
Inside the tower, there is a well-decorated restaurant that is very pleasant to sit in.
From the top of the tower, there is a stunning view of Decumanus street, the ancient Roman street that runs through the old town.
The next day, my son wanted us to enter the Round Tower as well because he liked the experience of visiting the Pentagonal tower.
The round tower is a remnant of the former defensive walls of the town. It was built in 1474. We were amazed by the original steep stone stairs that have been preserved.
My son found it interesting to peek through the small windows in the hidden corners.
In this tower, there is a bar, located on the terrace with a view of the waterfront. This view is especially beautiful at a time when you can watch the sunset. It's a very romantic place. 🙂
Poreč has a lot of fairy-tale places that made our stay very special.
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
